“Would be a 4/5 rating if the Ningaloo Reef Resort removes Coral Coast Tours from its website as the airport transfer”
3 of 5 starsReviewed September 9, 2013
I had sent in this review previously not knowing I had to put the name of the resort on it. This is a review of Ningaloo Reef Resort, NOT Coral Bay Tour, which Tripadvisor ended up putting my original review under. I am reviewing on Ningaloo Reef Resort with a feedback to it about the horrible tour service on its website, which is Coral Coast Tours. There are a number of tour groups in Ningaloo Reef with similar names, which makes it difficult for the traveler to figure out which is which. Therefore, make the thieves hide themselves easier.
I have notified Tripadvisor about wrong placement of my original review and I am resubmitting my review with the added details in hope that others will not be scammed. Also, there are definitely very worthy tour groups at Ningaloo Reef that do not deserve such smearing. Here is the rest of mine original review:
The resort was comfortable and had good food. The price was steep, but that is the going rate for the location. The staff at resort did give us the best ground level room as we requested many month ahead. There are giant clams all within short snorkeling distance from the beach right across, which is ideal for children. There is a daily fish feed which kids will enjoy. There are marine tours that take you on a short or long boat ride to grand coral reefs and multicolored underwater paradise.
We followed the resort's advised and called Coral Coast Tours, which is on the resort's website under airport transfer. We booked two tours with this company, a full day Safari tour, and a night spot light tour. All this was done months prior to the trip and we prepaid. We were notified by email about two weeks before we the trip that the "owner had to take a course" and the safari trip was cancelled. We asked about substituting other tours and were told to work that out once we get there. We arrived at Learmonth, and we called Coral Coast Tour about the spot light tour that night. We were told the time the tour would leave and we told the lady that we will be there. The lady said she emailed me a week ago and asked why I did not respond to her. I told her that we were already in Australia (on the road) and did not have email access during that time. We told her we will be there for the spot light tour. We made it to the Coral Coast Tour shop more than five minutes before the departure time and it was close. We went next door to a tour/ souvenir shop and the lady there called the owner of the tour company for us. She told him we were there and it's before the tour departure time and she was told that the tour thought we were not going to show up, so the tour left already. We then asked about scheduling a replacement tour. We were told that there may be be another tour next night or so. We ended up calling several times (even with the resort front desk calling for us) and walking to the shop twice more because they want you to be in the shop. Well, the shop was always closed. And, not only was there no other tour, when we called to ask for our money back, the woman refused to give our money back!!!
This trip would have been a much higher rated trip, if the small strip of Ningaloo Reef had one less irresponsible merchant. It gives the entire community a bad vibe. TRAVELLERS, BE AWARE.
