“A beautiful setting but we were disappointed with our evening here”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2013 via mobile

We had dinner here on a Wednesday evening. The room is quite large and grand and there were only 2 other tables so it felt quite empty. The service was reasonable and the food good not outstanding. It is an expensive evening and we felt it didn't live up to our expectations.

“The Tastes of Christmas”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2012

Well, with the children both overseas on holiday, Carole and I Decided it was time to break with tradition and to dine out for Christmas. We had been to Eleonore's Restaurant before and thoroughly enjoyed it; so we felt it was appropriate to go back and have our Christmas Dinner prepared by the executive chef Mathew Macartney and get pampered by the maitre d' Cameron Hogarth and his staff.

It really was a wonderful way to spend part of our Christmas Day. We could not have asked for better in terms of food and service. It was an absolutely first-class experience, all carried out in delightful surroundings.

We chose to have our meal served with the matching wines chosen by Cameron and his staff.

In a nutshell, we chose the Ceviche of Lobster and Scallop and Suckling Pig for entree, the Hay-Smoked Goose Breast as our main, the Silvan Estate Berrie Pavlova and Traditional Plum Pudding as our deserts. It is difficult to describe the brilliance of the dishes as each was delightful to the palate. Such pleasure to dine, such a pleasure to sit back and enjoy the Christmas Day Dinner.

The matched wines complemented each dish perfectly and the desert wine which accompanied the Plum Pudding was nothing short of sensational.

The Dinner was as good as what we imagined it would be, and then some. It is always a pleasure to go to Château Yering. We are going to return for their New Years Eve celebrations which promises to be a sumptuous occasion as well.

Congratulations to Mathew and his team and also to Cameron and his team on making the day so successful and such a pleasure to be present at.

“Fine dining +!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2012

This was a definite fine dining experience and I LOVED IT! The food is to die for, we had the cheaper of the banquets as it had the twice cooked pork belly, which literally melted in your mouth. Every course was brought out and explained and all cooked to perfection. The view is just beautiful, if you are out to impress I would suggest finding a date when you can get a table by the window. The service staff couldn't do enough for you and were very attentive, the fork my husband knock onto the floor was whipped away and a new one placed down without us even noticing! If you are looking for a location for a special night out, then this is the one. Expect to spend around $300 for the night for both food and wine, it's worth every cent! And if you are thinking of somewhere nice to pop the question-you will def get a yes with this night!
