Holiday Inn Melbourne Airport

We have stayed here overnight in between flights twice. We love the shuttle service which picked us up from the airport and takes us the short trip to the hotel.
The check in staff were super efficient, extremely helpful and very friendly.
The hotel is in good condition and well maintained. The room was clean and the linen is good, we had a Queen Room.
We wished we had eaten at the hotel instead of the Irish Pub at the airport as the meals looked reasonably priced and good. We will next time.
Thanks for a pleasant short stay.

We stayed a night before flying out early the next morning for NZ. We arrived late but it did not seem to worry the hotel staff who were very helpful and pleasant.
The bonus was that we were able to leave our car at no extra cost.
The hotel interior is sort of a modern cliche - stools around the bar like small mushrooms. No backs, and a few other odd chairs.
Rooms were a bit small and dated, the bathroom was definitely tiny but surprisingly, the bed was comfortable with a selection of pillows. Handy to the airport with a shuttle out in the very early morning.

I am not sure why expectations were not too high. We stayed here for 1 night before heading back to the UK arriving after 11 at night. The shuttle arrived promptly, check was excellent and the bed only a little too firm in a large room.
My eggs Florentine was not the best ever but much better than the vast majority. A real English muffin is always a good start - could have been toasted a bit more.
Fresh fruit was good - but then it always seems to be in Aus hotels.
If you need to stay near Melbourne Airport stay here - also on the cheap side.

The Hol Inn at Melbourne Airport is a great place to stay if you are catching an early flight out. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the terminal or you can take the shuttle, which operates from very early (just book it). Although the hotel has been around for a while the rooms are very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom is small. I had a problem operating the TV which was sorted out within ten minutes. The food in the restaurant was excellent with a wide selection to suit all tastes and appetites. The bar area is also very pleasant.Everyone was really helpful.

The rooms were good being given two double beds in each of the two rooms we booked.
An unusual but welcome selection of pillows was provided (soft and firm tagged pillows). We had plenty of pillows to choose to sleep with.

Some of the toilet facilities are starting to show its age, but nothing really to complain about.
It was a short but very comfortable 6 hour sleep and regret not being able to sleep more before our morning flight.

A good experience but nothing that stands out as being beyond my expectations.

My sister and I stayed here on Christmas Eve, having come to Melbourne for a day in the city and Carols By Candlelight and being booked to fly home fairly early on Christmas morning.

There was initially a little confusion finding the hotel by walking from the Virgin Australia terminal, but it is only a short 5-10 minute walk once one knows where at is, and the staff would have sent a shuttle for us had we wanted to wait.

We had requested early check in, and indeed there was a room available at 10:30am, which was wonderful. Our seventh floor room (712) was large and light with a runway view (with MacDonalds in the foreground!), two comfortable queen (I think - seemed larger than double) beds, and a choice of firm or soft pillows.

Less positive features include the bathroom and decor which could do with an update. Also the price seems a little steep for what the hotel is, but I was happy to pay for the location.

Some services were understandably closed for Christmas including the restaurant, but we had no need for that, or for Internet or luggage services so can't comment on those on this occasion.

Overall my sister and I had a comfortable stay and would stay here again for flight reasons.

Stayed for one night only pre an early morning flight. The following night I stayed at the Intercontinental in Adelaide for one night, then the Intercontinental in Melbourne for 2 nights. Whilst this hotel was the ‘plainest’ of the three it still had all the amenities of the other two with equally efficient staff. The location is very good if with respect to Tullamarine Airport (but you wouldn't stay here for as your 'city' holiday location).

Company paid $175 and it included buffet (or in room breakfast), shuttle to airport (about 400m at most I’d estimate) and free 24 hr internet (only 200mb download; otherwise it is $9 for 2hrs or $19 for 24 hrs).

Upgraded to King bed room for free due to availability which was appreciated. The front reception staff and the wait staff in the restaurant were very friendly and helpful whilst remaining professional.

Room is very plain in decoration but is a good size. It appears to be an old hotel which has been renovated at some point. Room was lovely and quiet to sleep in and I did not hear even one plane.

Equipped with a decent sized desk with phone and lamp. It has a data port and power point at top of desk etc.

Flat screen TV with free to air channels & also in-house movies channel (pay for these), alarm clock, Air Con (very quiet and efficient), an in room safe, iron & ironing board, fridge, kettle, and mini bar stuff (tea/coffee/sugar/milk was free though. Has a wardrobe and plenty of space for bags, clothes, etc. There is an armchair, side tables and a choice of soft and firm pillows, etc.

The bathroom is smallish but functional; has a good sized mirror, toiletries, hairdryer and a shower that is inside a bathtub (and the loo). It has a ‘clothes line’ that pulls out from one side above the bath tub to the other. Note: the Intercontinental Melbourne bathroom was no bigger really (it was more modern with a rain shower rather than a bathtub with shower overhead but no roomier overall).

Window in my room (#624) looked over the IBIS budget hotel and some paddocks. The natural light is fantastic in the room during the day.

Parking is a very reasonable $10 for 24 hrs in a private parking area – semi fenced and gated (so people could walk into where cars are but you need the ticket to get the card out through the boom gate).

I ate dinner at the restaurant and all my food was nice and well presented. There is a small pool just outside the restaurant (not in direct view of diners) but I didn’t use it. They also provide in room dining 24/7. My breakfast was room service and was warm and my drink was hot so all good.

Shuttle to airport was efficient and timely.

In terms of cleanliness everything appeared dusted and fingerprint free other than the carpet had definitely not been vacuumed ‘spotlessly’ (it wasn’t dirty, just wasn’t pristine).

The hotel is listed as a 4 star hotel so I would expect the corridors and lobby to be a little more 'spruced up' than they perhaps are. The room definitely looks a little 'tired' (clean but very plain and a bit old looking) and did not look 4 star however it did have all the 4 star amenities.

I am going to scrape the rating into 4/5 based on everything other than the 'tiredness' or 'plainness' of the room as the rest was definitely 4 star (staff, sound proofing in room, location to airport, etc). I only gave the value as 3/5 as it is still expensive for one night in a hotel against others of similar standard. Having said that, I'd stay again due to the other factors listed.

Room Tip: Room #624 was big with good lighting and very quiet for sleeping.
