stayed here on an aiport stopover. transport to and from hotel was much more efficient tha expected. you never wait for more than 5 minutes. the room was small but was neat and tidy and quite modern. All i needed was a comfy bed and a good shower. I got both. I would consider this on my next pass through Melbourne

We stayed at Mantra Tullamarine before flying out to New Zealand. Proximity to the airport is good compared to the city. We found the service upon arrival not amazing, but satisfactory. The facility and room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the gym at sunset was a great view, but there isn't much equipment in there. We ordered room service for dinner and must say the fish and chips were beautiful! We got the room on special but I would say it probably needs to be on special. As with many chain hotels, it didnt have much character but that is not why we chose to stay there. Overall, it was pleasant and served our purpose well, being a nice place to stay before hopping a flight.

Trying to get a reasonably priced hotel that does not have issues and that we feel OK to associate with is always a trick. This is how it worked out for us.
1) We found using Wotif provided the best deal of AUD$143 for an overnight (Apr 2012) which in itself is reasonable for the facilities and location.
2) There is no complimentary airport shuttle normally so if you can get a deal with it included that's good. It costs $6 per person one way and the same back again. Its about 5 min drive from airport.
3) There is no off-street parking provided by the hotel. They have used all their allocated area for hotel, but are happy to sell you a parking lot for $17 per night in 'Andrews Parking' next door. Most people use Airport accommodation for late arrivals or early departures - so you have to add up if you are going to pay $12per person round trip shuttle or get/keep your hire car and pay $17 for secure parking - or risk it and park off-site (nb: hotel is on a main road that borders an industrial area).
4) We asked for a quiet room. They gave us 704 which was very quiet. It appears that all the rooms have thick glass windows for sound proofing, and being higher up there is less street noise.
5) The room was pleasant, clean and functional with tea making facilities, iron and board, tub chair, coffee table and flat screen digital TV.
6) Breakfast in the Woodlands dining room is $17pp for continental or $19 for buffet.
7) By putting out your breakfast order on room door handle by 1am you can have breakfast brought to your room - which we did about $16pp and we used the in room tea making facilities.
8) For those traveling to Melbourne it may well be fogged in at the airport early in the morning as it was the morning we woke up - so we were glad we arrived the night before to get to our appointment in time.
9) Check out was simple and we both agreed we had a restful night stay for a place close to the airport.

Room Tip: Higher up quieter it gets. Or ask for a room with no occupants either side (more likely in non-peak...

We stayed at the Mantra Tullamarine on 2 occasions , once on the way to the UK, 11 01 2012 and once on our return, 02 04 2012. The rooms were very good, clean and plenty of space, the bathrooms were large, clean, reasonably kitted out with shampoo etc. The beds were big, clean and very comfortable. Their breakfasts are really good, choice of full or continental, the hot food is well cooked and plentiful, plus a good variety of cereals, fresh fruit and dairy etc. Best to get a package of B & B as a full breakfast is $27 a head. Evening meals are a reasonable cost with fresh cooked meals to order. Overall we were well satisfied, the shuttle to and from the airport runs very early to very late but leave plenty of time for traffic delays when catching flights.

Room Tip: Try to get "Executive Studio" upgrade, we did and well worth it.

This was a business trip staying at the Mantra Tullamarine Hotel. Very relaxing atmosphere and the services were efficient and timely. The rooms were well serviced and clean.
My stay was the second time around for 7 days, I will be staying at Mantra Hotel's in the future.
I have just made a booking for 14 nights at the Mantra Coolngatta in the month of March in a two bedroom apartment.

Room Tip: Check to see if the bar fridge is not noisey !. You may have to turn it off at night. :)

Stayed for 1 night as we had an early flight interstate for the day. Rather than getting up at 4am and parking the car at the airport we decided to stay at Mantra Tullamarine. Their website advertised a special 1 nights accommodation free parking and breakfast. After checking the special conditions I phoned reservations to find out about the shuttle service and if it was free. I was told it was $6 per person each way. I also asked about their special advertised and what it included and that I had an early flight and returning that same day. Upon check in we were faced with staff that would not accept our booking under the special rate even though we showed the website clearly offering the rate that we had booked and paid for. After 10 mins waiting the duty manager came to discuss our booking and he was immediately rude and obnoxious. He said our booking did not include the car parking and we would be charged 2 days car parking if we didn't take our car on check out. 20 mins of further arguing and we were no further in getting a resolution. We checked in at 12.30am and left at 5.00am for the airport to return back to Melb at 10pm. 4 hours sleep no breakfast although included in advertised deal and charged another days car parking just for the convenience. Absolute waste of money and time. Never have I faced such rude and unwilling staff to provide customers with service or at least prepared to compromise. Absolutely floored with this bad experience
