“A winelovers dream”
Reviewed May 22, 2009

Enter the vineyards at Rosevears via a dirt road and you eventually come to the cellar door and these wonderful apartments. Drive right up to the door and feel right at home in these modern well equipped chalets. The best value accomodation I have ever come accross anywhere in the world for these views and amenities. Sweeping views of the Tamar River with premium wine producers at your doosrstep including Rosevears-on site, Moores Hill, Ninth Island and a bit further up the road Delamere and Dalrymple wineries are a must. Buy some local wine from a cellar door, purchase the mini cheese platter available in your room mini bar and sit on you patio of Rosevears pondering life at a more relaxed pace. Two thumbs up.

Great place to stay if you want to see the Tamar valley and wineries, and only fifteen minutes to Launceston to boot.
Staff were friendly and courteous, the views and surroundings were beautiful, restaurant food was nice and reasonably priced, the room was clean and very new with a modern feel, could have easily stayed longer if we'd had time.
My only complaint was that the rooms had no internet access or wi fi.

We stayed in a spa suite.

Firstly keep in mind this is owned by Gunns Ltd, not renowned as the pinnacle of forestry conservation.

If we had known this earlier, we would not have stayed, however didn't find out till later.

The suite was nice and had great views which wasn't expected.
Service in the restaurant was top notch and the food differed from good to excellent.

Apart from the blinds which did not go to the floor (measured incorrectly impacting privacy) and poor parking, the stay was nice.

The previous reviews certainly resemble our experience of this accommodation as well. The rooms along with their views over the vineyard and the Tamar River were excellent! It was also difficult to find decent places for a decent price in Tasmania at the time of year we were there. Rosevears Estate also proved to be very good value in my humble opinion. The staff are friendly, and you can even do a spot of wine tasting.

If I had to make one negative comment, we found the restaurant a little bit disorganised. Nevertheless the food and coffee was nice, and the views were breathtaking!

  • Liked — The rooms and their view!
  • Disliked — Nothing really

Absolutely STUNNING views and beautiful room! The bathroom is gorgeous!!! And exceptionally priced ($145 through own website).

I'll let the photos speak for themselves, it is all very nice. We didn't even have to check-in as they leave the key in a secure compartment on your door so all you have to do is drive up and sleep.

Only one apartment joins yours and it really doesn't impinge on your privacy. There are 12 foot (approx) glass windows facing the valley and a little balcony with your own BBQ on it.

Also provided in your room is two bottles of the Estate wine, *cheaper* than what you pay at the cellar door. I took home the Pirie Estate 2006 Pinot Nior for a reasonable $30. They also provide a white (Riesling). In the cupboards are a packet of coffee grinds for *real* coffee in the morning.

My only gripe is that while they obviously have spent up on such fittings as the bath, toilet, basin....there are other details which are cheap in comparison. Eg, the very deep and luxurious bath is housed in a simple coated composite board/plywood. The wardrobe is made of the same thing. I can't help but ask was it too much extra to purchase these things in quality materials?
The lounge could have had a *bit* more furniture as the TV is way too far from the couch to be able to watch comfortably (should you choose to actually watch it!)

Aside from that, everything is beautiful and I LOVE the idea of staying in a winery.
Oh and I'll add we had breakfast at the restaurant on the property, Estelle. Not cheap ($14.50 for eggs Benedict), but it was delicious and made from local ingredients.

  • Liked — Breathtaking views
  • Disliked — Some substandard fittings that were minor but seemd out of place.

these are now part of the Quest group. Book direct with the Quest website for top internet rates. This is a fantastic place, the apartments are perched high in the trees overloking the vineyard and wetlands. There is a large living area, bedroom and bathroom with bath overlooking the vineyard, terrace / balcony with BBQ. Modern fit out, very clean. Well worth a stay.
Note - it is a bit in the middle of nowehere - don't go expecting disco's / bars / restaurants!

This was a great place to stay. If you want something just out of Launceston (10 minute drive) then this is a great choice. It is on the wine trail which is the reason we stayed here. There are lots of wineries close by if you don’t want to drive the full circle.

The accommodation is new it looks like it has only opened recently. The unit we occupied had superb views of the Tamar River and the winery.

We had breakfast included and they deliver that each day and put it in your little bar fridge. There was no minibar so if you want snacks and drinks you will need to bring them with you.

There is floor to ceiling glass which allows you to sit on the lounge and enjoy the view. My only concern with this is it may get a little hot in summer because the blinds don’t really block out anything. We stayed in the middle of winter and the sun beamed in. There is air conditioning though.

The bathroom was great it had a huge bath which you could sit in and look out at the view. If your staying in winter like we did than you will be pleased to hear that they do have electric blankets on the beds.

I would certainly stay here again next time I am in Launceston. The staff are very friendly and the units offer great views and it’s good to be out of the city but still being close enough to drive to the top restaurants for a bite to eat.

  • Liked — It was comfortable and simple
  • Disliked — Nothing
  • Tips/Secrets — Ask for the unit with the best view because it is spectacular
