The setting is beyond beautiful even if the 7 km drive up a single lane winding dirt road to get there was a bit hairy.

We stayed in a one bed studio cabin with magic views from the verandah out to the forest.

The paddy melon wallabies hopped around the verandah and the birds woke us with their singing. A great place to relax, get away from it all and enjoy nature.

We stayed here at the end of a wonderful trip to Tasmania (3rd visit). We were really looking forward to our stay and had incorrecty thought we had booked a one bedroom, but it was a studio. There were no cooking facilites, tv, dvd player, cd player, but, of course, they were provided if you were willng to pay extra for them. At $300 per night, we were disgusted that to watch a dvd required one renting a machine at $15 per night and an additional $3.00 per movie. No cooking facilities, but if you would like to use the BBQ facilities, unbelievably yet another $10 for use of this item! And then, insult upon insult, you were required to then clean the BBQ. After having travelled the world for decades and stayed at hundreds of hotels and different types of accommodation, this is the only place that has the hide to charge for use of a BBQ on the property. And then!! you were also required to clean it after use.

As if all of the above wasn't bad enough, we were then infomed that breakfast ended at 9:30 on weekends. Everywhere else we stayed had breakfast available till 11:00 on weekends and 10:00 to 10:30 during the week. THIS PLACE IS RUN FOR THE CONVENIENCE OF THE OWNERS AND STAFF, NOT THE GUESTS. We had been happy to pay the top dollar charge of $300, as we had paid at numerous other places, but for it not to include cooking facilites or use of bbq, tv, dvd player, cd player etc is absolutely unacceptable and then to be treated like a boarding school insisting guests eat breakafast on weekends by 9:30 is pushing the point of who is working for who here. If they paid me $300, I would never stay here again, but would appreciate a refund or compensation.

Room Tip: Pay even more for a 2 bedroom and receive cooking facilities, as by the time you include the use of the bbq and or buy a bbq pack, you will probably save money.

Stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin for 2 nights last week. Described by our teenage son as 'healing'. Bush walks right there but make sure you have good walking shoes - had been raining the day before and one of the walks we went on was a still wet and slippery in some places Great for wildlife spotting. Lovely food in the restaurant but if you wish to self cater, make sure you bring all food in (Located 8kms up a winding gravel road so no food shop to nip out to if you forget something). Few things were missing from our kitchen equipment but staff supplied things when discussed. Would recommend to anyone who really wants to escape for a few days. No TV reception which really assisted with the relaxation.

Room Tip: Hear that the 'Lodge' rooms can be noisy. We had a cabin and it was great.

My family stayed here in one of the self contained family cabins - it was a treat for us for two nights at $380 per night. The cabin was well appointed with a loft style bedroom upstairs - it felt like a log cabin. My only criticisms were that essentially we had no view - only over the road and carpark, so really didn't want to sit on the verandah. Secondly, there is no TV reception (which is fine) so the TV was just to play DVDs. I thought having to pay to hire a DVD was a bit mean and must provide an inconsequential income for the Lodge compared to the goodwill generated by providing at no cost. I feel a selection of family videos should be left in the cabin. Yes, Lemonthyme Lodge is a retreat and guests come to enjoy nature, but it's good to be able to entertain the kids at night with a DVD. Some board games are provided in the main lodge at no cost. The breakfast is included in the Lodge restaurant which consisted of eggs, bacon, sausages done to your liking. Also muffins and croissants, cereal, fruit etc. Very enjoyable. We ate one night in the restaurant and found the prices very reasonable and really enjoyed our meals.

Room Tip: Cabins that accommodate a family are not in a location with a view out to the forest.

We stayed in the lodge room, which was clean and facilities seem good value for what you pay, until it comes to dinner time!

They say minor noise disturbances, I would say more like major noise disturbances. The rooms are right above the restaurant and they play music at night which seems much louder from the rooms then when you are down in the restaurant. We got the room right above the speaker so it was even worse. It doesn't get turned off until 10.30/11. The double bed is tiny and I ended up sleeping on a bunk and my husband had the bed as he is very tall and his feet were off the end of the bed. Would recommend getting one of the private chalet rooms if you can afford it to get the most out of this place as it is really spectacular otherwise.

Breakfast and dinner was excellent. You have to drive 8km down a dirt road to get there, but then you are in total bush surroundings which is lovely.

Room Tip: Don't book the lodge rooms, or take ear plugs if you do!
