We treated ourselves to a Luxury Wilderness Spa Suite choosing the Fireside Luxury Spa Package on a weeknight in September. Yes, it was luxury, with all the little extras plus some! We were attracted by photos of the Spa with the wonderful window views and it was beautiful with the sun coming in. We were warmly welcomed and allowed early check-in. It was so nice to enjoy our picnic lunch on our own very private veranda.

All the suites and cabin are named, our one called ‘Stormont’, was an end unit in a block of four. This block was north facing so the sheltered veranda in September was a sunny delight. There was a big sheltered entrance porch with coat hooks. Entering into the hall there were more convenient coat hooks and the gas fire place was on heating the suite for our arrival. The large living area was furnished with a comfortable bed, clothes closet, a desk/table with two chairs, two settees and a coffee table. An attractive marble top unit held the gas fire, glassware, fridge etc. This luxury spa suite had a flat screen TV with DVD player and a CD player. There were two opening windows with insect screening that allowed for cross ventilation. The outlook across the valley from the veranda was private. The bathroom was very large with a good size shower along with the great spa bath by the window. There were three big towels, quick delivery hot water with a good flow.
We walked up the ‘Hydro’ road to view the two waterfalls. The walk leaves the road and goes downhill to the river. It is reasonably well signed. The two falls were very scenic as is the river. We had leaflet on the walk (available from the Reception area). This enhanced our experience and meant we did not miss going up behind the Bridal Veil Falls. These falls are truly represented on the Lemonthyme Lodge website, spectacular!

A two course evening meal at the Whispering Woods Restaurant and a cooked breakfast were included in our package. The main course steak meal was excellent but the lamb meal was a disappointment. It was well presented but almost cold. Breakfast was fine. Our friends who stayed for two nights a week or two later reported a similar restaurant experience with great steak meal but a poor quality pork main course. All the staff were pleasant and helpful. On departure we were both give a brown paper bag to help us on our journey – an apple and bottled water, very considerate and appreciated.

My husband and I have stayed here on several occasions and have never been disappointed. We have also spent some time at Cradle Mountain Lodge but for us Lemonthyme is head and shoulders above. There are no tourist buses here and hoards taking happy snaps, just lots of serenity and wildlife in a pristine forest setting. The cabins are lovely all with Tasmanian wood on the walls and furniture. There are gas fires in the cabins which lend a warm ambiance and a little balcony to enjoy in the warmer months. The lodge is rustic but beautiful with a huge open fire always lit in winter and lots of overstuffed couches to enjoy a pre dinner libation. The food has always been good in the restaurant and staff friendly; Every night after dinner the left over vegetables, meat and fruit are given to the wild life outside so everyone can stand or sit on the huge verandah and watch as the locals enjoy a feast. I can't recommend this venue highly enough.

I stayed here in May 2011 on a solo trip to Tasmania for my 40th birthday. I hadn't booked any accommodation before I arrived and was on a limited budget but had enough to treat myself to a room for the night. When I called up to book and explained I couldn't afford the room plus dinner in the restaurant, the lady I spoke to was so concerned I wasn't going to eat that she threw in a two course dinner for free!! And she didn't even know it was my birthday!
The room was beautiful and quiet and the surrounding walks I did the next morning were wonderful.

And the food? I can't remember exactly what it was but I do remember it tasted amazing and the service was impeccable.

For a special treat, I would definitely recommend Lemonthyme.

We had a great stay at the lodge after tossing up between Lemonthyme Lodge and Cradle Mountain. Lemonthyme won and we are glad we made this choice. The drive in from the main road takes about 10 minutes through beautiful bush. The lodge is built in the middle of the bush and the cabins are nestled in amongst the trees giving a feeling of privacy from the other cabins. We arrived late to a very friendly welcome at reception. We had booked a treetop cabin which was toasty warm, clean and comfortable. Our son and family had a two bedroom cabin which also had a kitchenette. We ate both nights at the lodge and the meals were basic but well cooked. There are some nice easy walks around the lodge and lts of wildlife. We drove the 40 Km's. to Cradle Mountain for an okay lunch and a short walk around Dove Lake. Cradle Mountain is much more developed and we were glad to get back to our cosy cabin and friendly staff at Lemonthyme. We can highly recommend this as a peaceful location for a break.

We have just returned from a wonderful two night escape in one of the luxury spa cabins. We booked a sparkly package, which included a two course dinner, brekkie, bubbles, choccies, what more can you need. Great private luxury suites high in the tree tops, private decks with balconies, spa, separate shower, lovely warm gas fires,tv,great sound system and anything else you need if you just ask. We were checked in by Larissa, she also cooks a mean eye fillet, cooks great hot brekkies which she offered us in our cabin, piping hot and delicious. She was attentive, friendly, and very capable. We fed the possums and pademelons with fresh veggies and fruit, what a delight. Amazing surroundings, peaceful,so scenic, a photo op in every direction. There is a dirt road which takes about 10 mins from the main turn off,boy is it worth the effort.
We were returning after a 9 year gap to find that this property is in excellent condition, is still stunning and well worth the trip. We will be returning again

Room Tip: Go the whole hog, luxury wilderness spa cabin

Our family have eaten and stayed at Lemonthyme lodge on two occasions. The location is spectacular, the lodgings and the dining area are top rate. The meals are amongst the best, although the vegetarian options were a little lacking. The one area they could improve on is the staff, they are just a little bit to casual. It was a bit like the staff were trained by mc donalds. There really is no greeting on arrival and no follow up on the night spent in the lodge. I did like the bar with the roaring open fire, although they did have a limited array of drinks. Overall very nice and a good spot but the staff needed to pull their socks up.

Our family really enjoyed our stay here. We stayed with 3 teenage sons and used it as a base for cradle mountain. We really enjoyed the restaurant and the rooms were warm although a little dated. Overall we could recommend this place as a cosy retreat with a great restaurant
