We treated ourselves to a Luxury Wilderness Spa Suite choosing the Fireside Luxury Spa Package on a weeknight in September. Yes, it was luxury, with all the little extras plus some! We were attracted by photos of the Spa with the wonderful window views and it was beautiful with the sun coming in. We were warmly welcomed and allowed early check-in. It was so nice to enjoy our picnic lunch on our own very private veranda.
All the suites and cabin are named, our one called ‘Stormont’, was an end unit in a block of four. This block was north facing so the sheltered veranda in September was a sunny delight. There was a big sheltered entrance porch with coat hooks. Entering into the hall there were more convenient coat hooks and the gas fire place was on heating the suite for our arrival. The large living area was furnished with a comfortable bed, clothes closet, a desk/table with two chairs, two settees and a coffee table. An attractive marble top unit held the gas fire, glassware, fridge etc. This luxury spa suite had a flat screen TV with DVD player and a CD player. There were two opening windows with insect screening that allowed for cross ventilation. The outlook across the valley from the veranda was private. The bathroom was very large with a good size shower along with the great spa bath by the window. There were three big towels, quick delivery hot water with a good flow.
We walked up the ‘Hydro’ road to view the two waterfalls. The walk leaves the road and goes downhill to the river. It is reasonably well signed. The two falls were very scenic as is the river. We had leaflet on the walk (available from the Reception area). This enhanced our experience and meant we did not miss going up behind the Bridal Veil Falls. These falls are truly represented on the Lemonthyme Lodge website, spectacular!
A two course evening meal at the Whispering Woods Restaurant and a cooked breakfast were included in our package. The main course steak meal was excellent but the lamb meal was a disappointment. It was well presented but almost cold. Breakfast was fine. Our friends who stayed for two nights a week or two later reported a similar restaurant experience with great steak meal but a poor quality pork main course. All the staff were pleasant and helpful. On departure we were both give a brown paper bag to help us on our journey – an apple and bottled water, very considerate and appreciated.
