this place is just amazing with great ocean views and a short walk to clubs pubs and cafes. The beaches are clean and the surf beach a short walk up the the road. The pool is well heated and clean and the rooms well equiped. It is a great place to escape from the city life and still really undiscoved and not overcrowed. There are many tourist things to do and see or you can just relax by the pool.Woodgate beach is just 60km south of Bargara and a graet place to take the kids for a day trip.Looking forward to my next stay at the C Bargara

I stayed here with my wife, her parents and friends from NZ as a wind down from my wedding. Upon arrival we where given keys and directions to the penthouse suite, nothing more no recommendations, weren't shown to and through the room which is the norm for this standard of resort, staff where very disinterested and at some times rude. The room on the other had was nothing short of spectacular. We could have all quite happily lived there is was so roomy and spacious. The entire eastern end of the apartment opened to let in the outside, fresh sea breezes and views to die for. If there where any negatives it would be the incessant wind (cant blame any one for our bad timing for the weather) and the room did have a very strong smell of bleach/chlorine from the room being cleaned. Overall highly recommended and I would be back in a flash !

The apartments themselves are really lovely and the lady on reception (Sandra?) is exceptionally friendly and helpful. Not sure that the husband (Steve?) is in the right industry however, the service industry is about service and he's not so good at that. Quite aside from accusing us of being drunk and making too much noise (which we proved to be incorrect and didn't ever get an apology for) his tone in all dealings was rude and condescending. A shame because his wife is so lovely.

Aside from that the only other complaint I would have is that the doors rattle in the wind, but otherwise a great place to stay.

Would HIGHLY recommend Casablanca for food - the service is amazing and the food incredible!

We stayed here in April 2010 as part of a sporting group. We had other groups staying at the same time.
The manager (lady) can't remember her name, was polite, however, we weren't given the room we were told we would have, even though we had confirmed this with them twice beforehand. We were given a room on level 3, (instead of 4) and another group we stayed with were given a room on level 2 (instead of 3). Not to mention, the room they ended up giving us was a "wheelchair" access room. - weird and slightly annoying, except the only benefit was that we had a large-sized carpark right next to the lift (something our 2 teenage boys laughed about). Not sure if this was to compensate for someone else's last minute request or if they simply did this deliberately. So check that you get what you ask for.

We ended up in a 2 brm apartment which was beautifully modern, spacious, very airy when doors are open. Spa bath was a treat, although a minor gripe would be that it was a bit gritty (from cleaner?) inside. Also, you couldn't lock the main brm door which opened right onto the lounge. It simply slid open (frosted glass) with full view of the shower. Apart from that, the room was lovely, comfy beds, well-stocked mini bar.

Kacys restaurant, a 2 min walk out the front gate is exceptional. The food, menu and service are highly commendable. Within a 1-2 min walk is Eagle Boys Pizza, Fish n Chips, Coffee Shops, Ice cream Parlour, Convenience Store with ATM, covered BBQ areas with BBQ's on the beach, and much more. Large Woolworths supermarket, a 2 min drive (8 min walk) around the corner and a golf course a few minutes away. All in all, a great location. Pool and gym used by our boys was great too.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone, except I would check on arrival that the room is the same as what you have booked.

We always go for new well appointed buildings with excellent facilities.
This place ticked all the boxes for us. We only booked a one bed but got upgraded to a two bed apartment 408 or 409. Which was right on the end of the building.
The apartment is kitted out with quality fixtures and fittings and was nice and clean on our arrival. I did appreciate the spa bath in the en-suite. It was good to rest my bones after the drive from Brisbane.
My only concern was the master bedroom. The night we stayed there was big storms and heavy driving rain. So in the main bedroom they have these lovely slat windows beside the bed. All nice and good for lying in bed and listening and watching the sea. But due to the storm. The wind came howling / whistleing through the windows as they did not seal shut correctly. I had to open the blind as the chain which open and closes the blind had worn a groove in the concrete due to the wind and made a kocking noise all night. Once the blind was open the street lights kept me awake. Never got much sleep the first night. If it had been a nice clam night I do not think this problems would have happened. Any way the next day we slept in the spare room and had a beautiful nights sleep with no problems.
Over all a great place, good size rooms, excellent views and easy walking distance to all bars, restaurants, turtles.
Would definately go back there again.

We booked a 2 & 3 bedroom apartment at the Grand Mercure, and both rooms were exceptional! Lavish finishing touches, Smeg kitchen appliances, and beautifully appointed bathrooms. Ensuite's in both rooms were brilliant, with the 2 bedroom master bedroom overlooking our private deck. Our combined group consisted of 9 people for 3 nights, and we were all treated exceptionally by the friendly staff. The views overlooking the ocean can be seen from every apartment (including the ground floor). The pool was cleaned each day of our visit, and the grounds were well kept.

One downside to this complex was the cleaning staff. The 2 bedroom apartment was located on the ground floor, and when the cleaners would be hosing off the apartments above, the water would run off the edge of the building, and wet tiled entrance to our door. Also given a 5 star rating, I was expecting an LCD/Plasma TV in the living room, but were gifted with the good ol' traditional 60cm black box that was in need of retirement.

Overall, our stay at this apartment was excellent. The service received by the friendly staff was much welcomed, and went above and beyond in ensuring our stay was enjoyable. Well done, Grand Mercure!
