“One-of-a-Kind Experience "Glam-ping"”
Reviewed May 21, 2013

We tend to like the added adventure of travelling somewhere remote, so the added steps and modes of transport did not deter us.

The villas here are each little hexagons, open on 5 sides IIRC, with screens. The result is the sights and sounds of camping combined with a wonderful bed and full protection from crittere big and small. Strolling around the resort is like walking through a zoo! Wondrous.

The open full, private bathroom that are a short stroll from each villa are charming. As long as you don't worry a spider here or there!

PS We stayed 5 years ago, in January.

We visited back in 2007 when run by Peppers, then it was ok for the price as the meals were gourmet and the service was excellent. Having visited just recently under new management I was absolutely disgusted with the place. The meals were pub grub, there was little to no alcohol available, the fans on the verandahs don't work so you sat dripping with sweat while eating lunch, the bathrooms need renevating, the pool was dirty, the place needs a good weeding and half the time the staff were non existent. For what we payed, we were left disappointed. Definately won't be visiting again, such a shame as its in our backyard, yet we'd rather fly to bali for a fraction of the cost and receive a high level of service.

I visited with my brother - in search of a glamping style barramundi fishing experience.
We got everything we wanted and more. The location is incomparable to anything I have ever seen. The natural beauty is breathtaking and without human intervention.

The hosts (leath and Jazzy) were outstanding. Not your ordinary hosts as Both look like a Hollywood actors cooler. leath as cool as a surfer (but with fantastic people skills). Jazzy as sweet with an earthy approach to the world (in a clean, happy hippy way).

The accommodation was perfect for the local and occasion. Clean, comfy and cool - no need for air-conditioning although it is in every bungalow if needed. Unlike other glamping / NT destinations there were no bug/mosquito/midgee issues. I loved the detached outdoor bathroom. Hard to explain but imagine a Hilton bathroom in amongst gum trees.

The food was good - breakfast a simple fair of whatever you wanted cooked as well as the usual cereals and fresh fruits. We skipped lunch as we were out fishing (basic sandwiches were provided to us) and dinner was designed around the fish we had caught that day - and although simple, it made the fancy Sydney Seafood restaurants look like McDonalds in comparison.

Obviously a great time for us - I am not sure what it would be like when full of guests ( there was only one other couple). Also, if we did not fish all day, I don't know what we would have done - as swimming in the adjacent bay is not allowed ( crocs, sharks, stingers) and walks would need to be with a guide due to wildlife ( bores, buffaloes, etc)

Suggestion before going - give the place a call ( don't rely on a travel agent) and discuss what you can do when there. The staff are really friendly and accommodating and full of ideas that won't be on a brochure or website.

I booked this trip at least 2 months prior to travel date for my elderly parents 50th Wedding Anniversary. We are spending a month in Australia travelling around so thought this an amazing place to visit. We were in Ayers Rock resort prior to this and unable to access my internet account so imagine my surprise when I eventually did get an e mail stating that the resort was cancelled due to generator problems and 'no one could get hold of me on my mobile'! I now had the dilemma of finding something for 4 people from UK to fill in 3 days. An alternative was not booked for me as 'I didn't get in contact with them'. The tour operator was fully aware that this was a Golden Wedding anniversary celebration and all she said was 'sorry and have you thought about going out for a meal?'

Not worth the hassle of getting this trip cancelled leaving you high and dry. Choose somewhere else as the operator really didn't care what happened to us.

We stayed only two nights at Seven Spirit Bay, but should have stayed longer. It is a superb place for a short break. If you love birdlife or fishing, you will have a great time. If you like just relaxing in a beautiful wilderness environment, you will have a great time. For history buffs, there are the ruins of Victoria Settlement, which was an early failed attempt to establish a settlement in northern Australia.

The resort building is lovely but the real highlight of the resort itself during our visit was the food. It is simply excellent. The rooms are separate cabins that are airy, welcoming and very clean. Each cabin has its own bathroom that is semi open air, a few metres walk down a path from the cabin. At first the bathroom seems a bit weird, but showering there is a lovely experience after the initial surprise. My only quibble is that the website suggests that internet access is available, but it is really only available for emergencies - a blessing perhaps.

Room Tip: Cabins closer to the resort are more convenient, but it is not a big deal

I first visited Seven Spirit Bay in @008 when it was a Peppers Resort. I had a lovley time and thought it a great resort, perhaps not what I expected in this location. Returning in May 2012 the main resort building is still great, the view from the dining room one of the best ever. The bedrooms are comfortable with all you need. the soft furnishings need to be updated. the separtae bathrooms, which freaked me in 2008 were ok in 2012. However my bathroom needs to be updated, eg broken basin and lights. The light was fixed immediately, couldn't replace the basin, but am sure they will be replaced over time. This would not stop me visiting.

The big plus the staff who were great, nothing too much trouble. The food was wonderful

A lovely resort for a 2-3 day stay
