This bed and breakfast is located in historic downtown Orange, VA, a lovely little town in central Virginia (3 miles from James Madison's Montpelier). One of the two oldest buildings in the town, the 1830s house is impeccably maintained by the owners. The breakfasts were scrumptious, using the best, freshest ingredients... for example a plum tart was made from plums picked a day earlier. Also appreciated was the diversity that was present among the guests, which is the consequence of the genuine warmth and welcoming nature that the owners exude. Definitely one of the best bed and breakfast experience I've had so far.

This is the perfect location to see all the attractions of the area, so close to Montpelier but also not too far away from Monticello and Shenandoah NP. This b&b has off-street parking, a PC you can use to check your emails / web and offers a great breakfast in the morning. The innkeepers are extremely helpful and kind and almost perfectly prepared for anything you might want as a tourist. There are lots of brochures on attractions at the b&b (more than at any other place I have visited so far) and you can even get tickets for Montpelier and Monticello which is very convenient and a great service. There is a self-guided walking tour through Orange you should do (yes, you can WALK there) and restaurants are very near (try the Hornets Nest and the Silkmill Grille). The main thing: The room was clean and nice, we slept extremely well and quiet. Would definitely stay again.

Please note: This is a review of our trip to the USA from 18.5.2008 until 9.6.2008.

This was accommodation # 5 of that trip If you want to follow the trip, the hotel/bed&breakfast before this was Summit Street Bed and Breakfast Inns, Winston-Salem (NC), the hotel/bed&breakfast after this was Red Hill Bed & Breakfast, Charles City (VA)

This was such a great place to stay for my first B&B! Sharon & Sam were great hosts. They were super friendly, great cooks, and were really helpful making recommendations on what to do in the area. The rooms were very comfortable and welcoming. I definitely plan on staying there next time I'm in Virginia!

Sam and Sharon really seem to love what they are doing and it shows. They will make you feel like an old friend who has come to visit. The rooms were better than I anticipated and very quiet. The house is very old and has all the charm one would expect with that.
Be sure to stop at one of the nearby wineries while you're there. There is also a great resturant just a few steps down the street and Sam will make reservations for you. A highly recommended get-away.
P.S. The breakfast was great too!

I had a wonderful stay at the Holladay House. The hosts are amazing - very helpful and accommodating. The house is a historical property and is beautifully decorated - not too overdone - just right. The common areas are inviting and relaxing. My room was very clean, the bed was comfortable and it was quiet. The inn is right in town so you can park your car in the inn's lot and walk to shops and great restaurants.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Holladay House. It is located near a number of good places to visit (Charlottesville, wineries, Blue Ridge Mountains, etc.). Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable, and breakfast was wonderful. We had an exceptional dinner at the restaurant across the street. The B&B allows guests with pets in two of the rooms, so we were able to take our dog. She enjoyed her stay, too.

We were very happy with our stay at Holladay House in Orange VA-the innkeepers, Sam and Sharon, were very helpful in assisting me in planning a perfect weekend getaway for my husband's birthday. Their suggestions for restaurants and which wineries to visit were on point, and we were not disappointed. Sharon packed a delectable picnic lunch which my husband and I enjoyed with a regional bottle of wine on our winery tour-the highlight of our trip. Their hospitality combined with the pristine rooms made for a very enjoyable weekend. Sharon's breakfasts were filling and included a variety of wonderful fruits and homemade items. We will definitely return again for another wonderful weekend soon!
