“Great time, great room, great service”
Reviewed July 2, 2013

Just stayed here overnight before picking our kids up from camp on Saturday morning. We had five star service all around, from the cleanliness to the food to the warmth in the inn itself. We had our "mini-cation" as our kids had theirs!

We picked Holladay House to host our elopement just this month. Because of visa issues we had very little time to plan. Sharon took it all in stride and put together a lovely little ceremony for us that we will remember forever.

The inn itself is quite charming. We spent the bulk of our time in our suite, the dining room and the parlor.

The suite was a nice size, with modern appointments in the bathroom, and a sitting room with satellite TV. The bedroom portion of the suite featured a queen sized bed, a dresser, wardrobe and a lovely fireplace that would have likely been more intriguing had it not been June.

The dining room and parlor are side by side. Both are very pleasant and serviceable for small events. Our ceremony was held in the parlor, and we enjoyed evening coffee and morning breakfast in the dining room.

The breakfast was really first rate. Sharon started us off with a berry crisp, followed by a delicious quiche with tasty ham and rosemary for flavor. Along side was a crisp cheesy toast and coffee from a local roaster.

No one believes reviews if there aren't a few nit picks so here they are. Not a one of them interfered with our stay in the least though. The inn has stood there since before the civil war...and the floors creak. I'd be surprised if they didn't, and I couldn't obtain an IP address from the house wifi on my phone or tablet. There you have it...forced to deal with creaky floors and 3G data. I don't know how we survived. Honestly, I can't imagine a better stay. Sharon put together a wedding for us in just a weeks time and we loved every minute of our stay.

It's hard to imagine finding friendlier innkeepers. As soon as we made our reservation, Sharon reached out to ask in advance what she could do to make our trip more enjoyable. She followed through on everything and gave us great suggestions for wineries and restaurants nearby. We stayed in the Oak Room, which was large and clean. The food, especially Sharon's crustless quiche, was outstanding. We selected the wine touring snack basket, which was a thoughtful arrangement of cheese, meat, and fruit, and was more than enough food for lunch. We will certainly stay here again!

Thanks so much for your kind words! I am SO glad you enjoyed your wine touring snack basket - I LOVE putting those together as it gives me a chance to zip into my "tied-for-second" favorite town of Culpeper (Orange is first place, of course!) to get the cheese and meat from the Culpeper Cheese Company. We hope to see you back soon!

Our top B&B experience. Friendly, comfortable, relaxed and impeccable service and lots of classy touches from the owners/inkeepers. .Exquisite breakfast menu. We chose the lavender package which included a a lovely afternoon tea(2-pots) and scones on the porch. Sharon took lots of time to chat and share our interst in the house and it's history as well as give us information about the area and things to do. Highly recommend the Holladay House experience and hope to visit again..

Room Tip: We toured every room. Each is individual--color, furntiure and setting--yet all welcoming and comfo...

It was our second time staying with Sharon and Sam, we had stayed when we were visiting as guests at a friends weekend, and we loved it so much I thought it would be a great place to plan a proposal this year. Sharon helped plan every detail of our trip, even though it was only a night's stay we went to an alpaca farm, horseback riding, dinner in Culpepper, and two wineries the next day. The Inn has great connections with local wineries. We stayed in the garden suite, which is very large- king bed, whirlpool tub, bathroom suite and private patio. The room was remarkably clean. Sharon set up the room with the bathtime package when we were out to dinner, so we came home to candles and champagne. The next morning Sam's parents served breakfast- two of the nicest, sweetest people you will ever meet.

You can't stay with nicer people than at the holladay house. Its really like going to someone's home, and Sharon is the best hostess. They take care of all the details and you can tell they love what they do. I highly recommend it!

We recently visited the Holladay House B&B, which we found absolutely delightful! Sharon was warm, friendly and very easy to talk to. She made several recommendations for restaurants and sites to visit and they were all spot on. The B&B was immaculate, the people were friendly and the suite was perfect. Our breakfasts, which included fresh local fruits and veggies, were unique and delicious, were served nice and hot. The locally brewed coffee was really delicious.

Room Tip: The Garden Room is a very private suite with a nice little porch complete with bistro set. The bath...
