We stayed here this weekend (Friday/Saturday) for our anniversary. We had been here before about 4 years ago, and the hosts and home were just as fantastic as we'd remembered. The house and grounds are rich in history, and my wife and I took a very pleasant stroll around the grounds. The breakfast both mornings was wonderful...eggs benedict the first morning and pancakes and sausage the second morning. We also joined the hosts and some guests both nights for wine and cheese prior to going to dinner...plenty of wonderful dinner places in the area, and Jack and Pat were more than happy to give very thorough explanations and had menus from many of the local restaurants. Great location right near all the wineries and Presidential/historical sites. We will definitely be back!

We had a three-night stay. Just took a chance based on reviews, and we are glad we stayed here! Pat and Jack are so friendly and helpful. Our room was excellent. The architecture and history of this inn is amazing. The breakfasts were the best we've ever had in our B&B experiences! We had looked at B&Bs in Charlottesville, but we are so glad we chose the Mayhurst Inn. The location is perfect for access to a variety of locations in this part of Virginia. One thing that stands out was the impressive display of fireflies each evening. We splurged and hired a driver to take us to several wineries, and that is definitely the way to go on wine tours!!!

We will definitely recommend the Mayhurst Inn to our friends and family. We will definitely stay again in the future if we return to this area of Virginia.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Southern Charm Room. This room was the original guest room and one notable guest at...

We loved the Mayhurst Inn.Jack and Pat were so very attentive and knowledgeable, and could not have been more welcoming. The attention to detail in the decor is amazing throughout their home, as was their well reviewed breakfast. We loved the baked apples. We are on vacation from Scotland and plan to return on a future occasion

My husband and I spent our 4th year anniversary at the Mayhurst Inn. We stayed in the Southern Charm room. As stated in my title, all positive reviews about the B&B are spot on. Jack and Pat are simply charming hosts. An extremely thoughtful gesture they did to commemorate our anniversary brought me to tears - and I am not one to express emotion but it was such a surprise -- there I was sobbing in the restaurant.

So hats off to Jack & Pat. The Mayhurst Inn is wonderful!

PS - listen to Jack when he recommends restaurants ... he will not steer you wrong.

Room Tip: Southern Charm was very spacious with excellent views. NOTE: there wasn't a fitness center but...

Just a wonderful overnight stay. Jack and Pat made you feel like you were part of their family. They are very warm and the house is so cozy! We arrived a little too early and I do not recommend that anyone do the same. They like to have the preparation time to ensure that upon walking in the house you are immediately charmed. Breakfast was delicious!! A terrific bargain for history, elegance, and a very pleased palate! Enjoy!!

A lovely 1850's plantation home, this 22 bedroom mansion has been converted into a bed and breakfast that drips old southern charm. My wife and I stayed in the Italian suite, which features a massive Jacuzzi room with a huge Jacuzzi, a large balcony, and a very comfortable bedroom with the right blend of modern convenience, revolutionary era feel, and surprisingly trendy decor that worked surprisingly well.

The grounds of the plantation are the second best part of staying here. Big lake, lovely garden....

The best part is the proprietors. Jack and Pat welcome you when you arrive, show you the house, will sit and sip wine and eat cheese with you in the library, and cook a delicious and filling breakfast for you in the morning. They made us feel like family, an that is worth more than anything.

Room Tip: We LOVED the Italian room. It looks more modern....... If you want something that looks more Dolly...

A spectacular and historic house lovingly restored with very attractive grounds. Gracious, fascinating and friendly hosts offering nibbles and wine in the late afternoon. A great base for exploring the area which is full of interesting places to visit. Delicious breakfast but massive - 4 courses! We would have appreciated some options and the chance to decline some. We left a lot and felt awkward.
Our only real quibble was that our room could have been cleaner.
