Most things were booked over the holiday weekend, so I decided to give it a try. Even though the rate was in the higher range and we had seen the website, we were still not prepared for the absolutely sumptuous room (the master suite was offered to us at no additional charge a few days before we arrived), delicious dinner, and gorgeous grounds! We got in about 6 pm and spent the rest of the night eating, relaxing by the firepit, taking an luxurious bath and sitting out on the private balcony. We wanted to take in all of it. Amazing. The charming owner was even on hand to suggest a better table outside for dinner! From the dessert left in our room to the beignets in the morning; all was thoughtfully prepared for us. We've stayed many places, including the local Boar's Head, top Metropolitan hotels and country BNBs...and the Inn at Willow Grove takes the best of them and brings it to the next level, with each luxurious touch. Therefore, our new area favorite... easily. You will not regret your decision to stay at this beautiful inn, regardless of the room you choose! -Melissa F.

It gives us such joy to see our guests’ reactions to our property upon arrival. Images just don’t do it justice! We’re delighted to be considered above and beyond Boar’s Head Inn and other luxury properties around the world. That is a high compliment indeed! Thank you for sharing, and we hope to welcome you back soon!

We have stayed at The Inn at Willow Grove twice in the main building; both visits were very comfortable and enjoyable. Bedrooms have been nicely modernized, with particularly attractive baths, but retain a historic ambience. Our suite included a small sitting area; particularly helpful for enjoying the delicious breakfasts (the complimentary breakfast beignets are light--quite delicious). The Inn includes a nice ground level bar (particularly inviting on cool nights when the fire is lit) as well as dining areas on two levels of the main house. Our many dinners and a few brunches were tasty and interesting without being overly adventurous. The grounds of the inn are also attractive; one set of patios has outdoor fire pits that keep you staying outside to listen to the tree frogs
All in all, highly recommended as a stop in this lovely part of the Virginia countryside.

Thank you for your kind words. If you enjoyed your accommodations in the Manor House for their luxurious décor and historic character, we recommend you try the Schoolhouse during your next stay. This lovely cottage is on the Virginia and National Historic Register as the oldest schoolhouse in Orange County, and it has been lovingly renovated to feature our signature “urban meets plantation” style while showcasing original architectural details that give the cottage incredible character and charm. We’re delighted that you enjoyed your two stays with us and thank you for posting!

After spending a couple of days in NC at a BMW Vintage event, we arrived at The Inn at Willow Grove and were escorted to our cottage, West Overlook. No expense spared when the owners refurbished this property! The front porch was so welcoming with an oversized swing, chairs and an antique trunk for the coffee table. Opening the door to our bit of heaven led us to more surprises. The bathroom is exquisitely decorated with beautiful tile (which is heated and programmable to be set at your ideal temperature), an oversized tub and a luxurious shower. The king bed was puffy and looked so inviting - a feather bed and down comforter with lots of pillows. The living room was decorated with modern touches, antique pieces and so many lovely touches. From the leather couch, we sat across from the stone fireplace - which was next to the door to the backporch. The backporch had beautiful views at sunset overlooking fields and mountain views.

We sat on the swing before dinner and just listening to the birds chirp, our only regret was that we didn't bring a bottle of wine with some cheese and crackers to nosh on before dinner!

Dinner didn't disappoint either - their highly rated restaurant left us satiated and with very happy bellies!

Probably the best night sleep either of us have had in a long time. The bed was extremely comfortable! In the morning, we had asked for our butler (Phillip) to bring our coffee and beignets around 7:30am. Sitting on the front porch of the cottage, we enjoyed the beignets and coffee while relaxing and enjoying the views.

Overall the Inn surpassed all my expectations and left us wanting more - so we booked New Years Eve and we'll try the East Overlook cottage on that trip!

Room Tip: Spending the extra money to get one of the Overlook cottages is definitely worth the money!! The vi...

I love to travel but could never see why anyone would keep going back to the same place over and over again. That was until I stayed at the Inn at Willow Grove in Orange, Va. Dave and Charlene Scibal have made this a place where you feel as though you are staying in their home.

From the coffee and beignets in the morning to the teas and treats that are waiting for you in your room at night. Not to mention the slippers by the bed or the L’occitane bath products!!!
We had our coffee and beignets (delivered by our personal butler) on the porch of the Weaver’s Cottage. We sat on the love seat the rocking chairs in the early morning listening to the quiet. Nothing but nature around you and beautiful views of shrubs, flowering bushes and just….peace.

I could come here once a month and just relax… read a book, enjoy great wines and even better food.. Foodies.. this is THE place for you!!!

Treat yourself. Go! You will love it!!

Room Tip: Let them choose for you!! you cant go wrong

I stayed at the inn on a whim, and am so happy I made the decision. The arrival alone is breathtaking, especially at night. When I pulled up, the innkeeper greeted me by walking out into the driveway, introducing herself and welcoming me by name. I lucked into a special rate, and stayed in the master suite which is precisely what the name implies: a masterful suite with such luxurious trappings and elegant fixtures. The inn itself is not pretentious, although it very well could be. Luckily, the luxury and formalities are balanced by the folk art and overall warmth of the employees. The food, which I didn't sample much of because the tavern is closed on Mondays, was delicious at breakfast. The innkeepers go out of their way to make you feel very welcome and comfortable. By the way, the bed is one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in, and I have stayed at multiple five-star hotels. Even though this one is a ways away you would be wise to give it a try. You will not regret it. I can't wait to return and try some of the other rooms, suites and cottages.

The Inn at Willow Grove’s special brand of luxury makes a getaway a truly memorable experience! Thank you for your stay, and we can’t wait to welcome you back. For accommodations even more luxe than the Master Suite, next time try the Overlook Cottage; you will be floored!

We decided to try the Vintage Restaurant at the Inn at Willow Grove for Sunday brunch which was also a family birthday celebration, at which we were joined by some good friends. As it was a warm and sunny day, we chose to sit outside in one of the courtyards; it was a shady and delightful spot to eat. Our servers, Wednesday, Emma and Caitlin, were kind, thoughtful and attentive, with just the right amount of warmth and humor. They helped make our visit a true pleasure.

To begin, we were brought a wonderful selection of home-made breads, including some truly amazing raspberry muffins. I ate two without embarrassment! We were also served an amuse-bouche with peanut butter and chocolate which was exquisite.

Several in our party chose Shrimp and Grits with scrambled eggs; all said it was perfect. The tenderloin of beef was tender and flavorful and the mushroom-whipped potato and spinach au gratin were perfect accompaniments. The Fried Green Tomato sandwich was flavorful and excellent and the salmon en croute was truly superb, perfectly cooked and beautifully served, the salmon being juicy and tender, and the pastry just perfect.

The desserts were an unexpected bonus. The chocolate creme brulee was fantastic. The selection of home-made ice creams was a delightful surprise. I've never tasted such good Rocky Road, made with whole almonds and dark chocolate; they also served a Sangrilla flavor which was out of this world. The sorbets were refreshing and close to eating liquid, frozen fruit. We also tried blueberry, blackberry and ginger coconut. All the desserts were heavenly.

The whole meal was a complete pleasure: a delightful table in a peaceful, outdoor courtyard, fantastic food and perfect service. We felt the prices were very fair and we look forward to returning. The Inn at Willow Grove has made a terrific first impression. They understand how to make guests happy, and after all, that's more than half the battle won. Pair that with outstanding food and delightful surroundings, and you come up with a well-deserved (but very rare) rating of excellent.

Our Sunday Brunch truly is decadent, and there’s no better way to enjoy a special Sunday indulgence than outside on the Vintage Patios amidst the beautiful sights and sounds of Central Virginia’s countryside. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We hope to see you again soon!

My husband and I recently (04-22 to 04-24-2014) stayed at the Inn at Willow Grove in Orange, Virginia. It was our first visit, it definitely will not be our last. We loved it! Wow! What an incredible experience. The grounds are so beautifully maintained, the cottage we stayed in was luxurious, the staff so professional and yet so friendly and accommodating, the dining at the restaurant was scrumptious......it was one of the best get-aways we have ever had! Loved the coffee, tea and treats delivered to our room each morning and evening. Can't wait to go back again.
