I didn't know about Featherdale Wildlife Park until a Sydney local recommended I visit. I'm happy i followed her recommendation.

The park gives you an up close look at and the ability to interact with several species of Australian wildlife, including some of the animals that are considered to be dangerous.

I found my visit to Featherdale fun and educational. The staff around the park were all very friendly and helpful.

I don't know if Featherdale is well known by tourists to Sydney, but it is well worth a visit and a good value.

Thank mclassic

The highlight of our visit here was to see so many koalas, some huge boys and a lot of active koalas climbing about which the kids loved. We had already been to Caversham park near Perth and had a great time there so weren't sure how good Featherdale would be in comparison. Featherdale was a lot busier. We got the train and bus out of Sydney to get there and just missed a bus so had to wait half an hour for another one which made the journey long. Shame the park doesn't run a bus out of Sydney city centre. The journey was easy enough to work out and drops you right outside the park gates. We got there at about 9.45 and the kangaroos had already been fed to capacity by the tour bus groups and weren't very interested and mainly in the 'quiet area'. Featherdale gets loads of tour buses of course being on the way to the blue mountains. The emus wanted the food however so that was a different experience for the kids, just watch your fingers! There were a lot of rude tour bus groups which isn't the parks fault and I felt they had trouble controlling the tourists around the animals. There didn't seem to be a lot of staff around in the park other than around the koalas and kangaroos. We saw one lady drop her map guide in the wombat enclosure and then try and get it back - wombat wanted the map and was wrestling with her! We had to tell her to leave it alone but there were no staff in sight, could have been dangerous for the wombat if something other than a map had been dropped in. It was enjoyable to see the crocodile and the staff brought out a snake and a wombat when a big tour group came in but it was all a bit haphazard without proper queues or times. We just happened to be there when the wombat came out but a lovely experience to see one. Overall my kids loved the animal encounters and it was worth going to see all the koalas and would def recommend if you want to see these animals close up as much better viewings of koalas and kangaroos than at Taronga zoo, they are just different types of places. My kids also enjoyed stamping the passports with the stamps. We were there about 3 hours. The staff I spoke to were lovely and very enthusiastic about the animals, maybe they just need a few more people to control the tourists!

I got to pet kangaroos and koalas, which was the only thing I really wanted. The place was full of Australian only animals, some of which were roaming free around and free to pet. I loved the up and close contact you get.

Featherdale is probably one of the best two wildlife parks I've ever visited (on par with Australia Zoo). On it's small amount of land, it really packs a lot of animals in & you can see them all, some parks are so large they have areas that animals can hide & you end up not seeing anything. This park has an open area where you can feed the Emu or Kangaroos. Great day out.

Lovely to walk around and be able to view the animals/birds close up. Nicely done enclosures. Staff very helpful, snacks and drinks available. En route to Daintree Rain Forest, worth stopping in for a break and a mosey around.

Hi there,

Thank you for visiting the Aussie wildlife at Featherdale. Its great to see you enjoyed your experience. We are located in NSW so did you visit the Blue Mountains and not the Daintree in QLD after your visit to our Park?

Many thanks,
Kellie
