We booked here for a weekend getaway. Unsure who gave Ferguson's 4 star. We had a few gripes with the cleanliness of the room - the bath was dirty and there was dust throughout. The room needed basic maintenance and the kitchen and bathroom are very dated. The breakfast that was left, although nice, was insufficient for two for the weekend. The kitchen was poorly stocked for a B+B. There were no cheese plates and there were no champagne glasses. The crockery and cutlery were minimal. The pool had no shade so it was actually too hot to swim there and unsuitable for children. Was expecting more for what we paid, so it was a little disappointing.

We stayed at Fergusons 30 years after our first visit to the Hunter. Fergusons have 6 luxury units on their 35 acres of farmland - quiet, great walks and it was simply the best! We had 3 nights and everything was simply perfect. Large top quality apartment/cabin with great views, excellent clean, spacious bathroom (also with views!), wonderful compact kitchenette, fantastic farm-sourced provisions for breakfast, private BBQ, A1 bed, top TV, fun reading material and ultra-helpful hosts! Fergusons have thought of everything (even umbrellas!) and this was one of the most comfortable & relaxing times we've ever had. A little away from the heart of the vineyards action and restaurants but there's a great dinner venue just 5 minutes away (Nightingales). Genuine top-star accommodation - we loved it!!

Room Tip: All 6 rooms are GREAT!

Spent a few days recently exploring the hunter valley and based ourselves at Fergusons. The cabin style accommodation was great for our small family took our own portable cot. Location is a bit away from the main winery region but it is only a short drive. There are olive groves and wineries surrounding Fergusons and the restaurant at nightingales is good for a lunch/dinner. Overall a nice quiet stay in the country at a good price.

Were going to chocolate festival at Hunter Valley gardens but could not get there till Saturday morning. Most places in Hunter have 2 night minimum over the weekend and with it also being in the middle of school holidays, the Hunter was practically booked out.
We rang Ferguson's on the way up early Saturday morning and they agreed for us to stay the one night.
We arrived there late afternoon after attending the chocolate festival and were very happy with our booking. Hosts, Lavinia and Roger were friendly and inviting.
The room was quiet, very comfortable and had everything one could ask for. We had the spa suite which was great.
Breakfast supplies in the morning were more than ample and everything was fresh.
The property has a serene country view and our only negative was that we could only stay the one night.

We stayed at Fergusons on a concert weekend trip. The management were very welcoming and friendly, and left us to our own devices which suited us well. The room was beautifully decorated, with a comfortable sofa, very good quality bed (I'm picky about beds), and great shower. The breakfast was more than adequate for the two of us, and the farm fresh eggs were a real treat. We will definitely stay with Fergusons again.

We had a very pleasant and peaceful stay at Fergusons. Our cottage was private and spacious with spa bathroom. A well equipped kitchen was stocked with ample, fresh breakfast provisions. The owners were welcoming and accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed a weekend away here with a magic meal at Margans, golf and wine tasting in the Hunter.

My husband and I stayed two nights here on a weekend away to see a concert. The grounds are immaculate as are the rooms which are beautifully appointed, and have their own little patio with private BBQ. More than enough fresh food for our breakfasts which included fresh eggs from the property. The BBQ pavillion area on a little lake has the most divine view of the Yellow Mountain , is well shaded and ideal for a group of friends to get together for a fun time. The new managers are incredibly accommodating and nothing is too much trouble. They will organise buses to venues and have great knowledge on the wine growing region. I recommend this property for all ages..
