This review is way overdue. Almost two years overdue to be exact. We booked our wedding at the Royal Lahaina Resort in July 2012 and it was absolutely amazing. Our friends and family consistently reminisce over our gorgeous wedding. We had about 75 guests. Both the ceremony and the reception were on the lawn overlooking the ocean during sunset. We chose the plated dinner with appetizers during cocktail hour as the sun was setting. We worked with Amy Johnston who is simply the best. The wedding coordinator we were originally working with moved back to the mainland halfway through the planning but Amy took over with such ease. It was like she was with us from the very beginning. She is very responsive and open to any and all ideas. We wanted to keep everything very simple and reduce cost as much as possible. We used our own vendors including our photographer, videographer, hair/makeup artist, and even our band. Speaking of band, we found our Hawaiian duo at Hula Grill in Whaler's Village a few months before the wedding when we visited the Royal Lahaina for our food tasting. If you go to Hula Grill, make sure to ask when Kaniala is performing! He's awesome. Anyway, back to the Royal Lahaina....we also wanted to bring our own centerpieces and accents as well. When we arrived at RLR, we had a big moving box full of our own pieces that we wanted to incorporate into our wedding. Amy let us store all of our stuff in her office so we didn't have to worry about it. We showed her how we wanted the tables set up and her team took care of the rest the day of the wedding. The wedding day was as relaxing as can be. My bridesmaids and I stayed in a 1 bedroom suite on the 11th floor overlooking the ceremony/reception site. We were able to see them setting up as we got ready. The room was absolutely beautiful and had the most gorgeous view. It was probably the nicest room I've stayed in. I believe we were able to get that room complimentary since we reserved a block of 10 rooms for our guests to book. When we were all ready to go, Amy had a golf cart waiting for us to take us to the site, which was not a far walk at all. Everything from that moment was a fast blur but I know Amy took care of everything. She was there all night coordinating whatever needed to be done. She even served my husband and I our first cocktail of the night after we finally had a chance to sit down. I knew I wanted a sparkler exit but none of the websites I found shipped to Hawaii. Since we got married in the middle of July, Amy was able to find sparklers from the July 4th holiday and she saved those for us to use. Yes, she's that awesome.
Simply put, if you want a dream wedding in paradise that's also affordable, book it at The Royal Lahaina Resort. You will not be disappointed. Thank you for the most amazing wedding I could have dreamed of!
