Description: On the water's edge on Kaanapali Beach, Hula Grill offers a stunning view of the Pacific and of the islands of Lanai and Molokai that has to be seen to be believed. From this distinctly Hawaiian vantage point, you are invited to join us as we celebrate the hospitality, culture and cuisine of the islands. Dinner is served in our open-air dining room where you can relax in the ambiance of a plantation era beach house while enjoying renown chef Peter Merriman's Hawaii regional seafood that isn't only a favorite of vacationers, but locals, too. Hawaiian fresh fish and locally grown produce are combined to create amazing menu offerings that are as colorful as they are flavorful. Fiery sunsets are served up daily along with live Hawaiian entertainment. Our Barefoot Bar offers a more casual menu serving both lunch and dinner under authentic thatch roof umbrellas and a sand floor where you can sink your toes in. The Barefoot Bar is seated on a walk-in basis only.

Lovely vibe , chilled out with live music right on the beach front. Menu selection is pretty limited but the food is very tasty and pretty reasonable on price. Worth a visit

We went here for a wedding rehearsal dinner, which was great. I ordered a delicious Lava Flow beverage, the Hawaiian Salt and Pepper Steak - Prime New York on the bone with truffle roasted potatoes, a side salad with and everyone got the homemade Ice cream sandwich for dessert. Amazing, everything was amazing. Perfectly seasoned, the wait staff was attentive and the setting can't be beat. I would go here again and recommend it to a friend. It was my first dinner out in Maui on arrival and it was a great way to start an amazing trip. It's pretty pricey but everything in Maui is. But you know you'll eat good when you go here. I'm glad I went.

We decided to spend our last meal of our recent trip at the Hula Grill in Whaler's Village. Given our good experiences at surrounding restaurants there, we expected more.

First, the good: the view is amazing, as it is open-air, right near the beach. Hard to beat. The food was pretty good, and the service was quick when we informed the server we had a plane to catch.

And, then, the not-so-good: the food portions were extremely small. I felt like we were at a fancy French restaurant, rather than a seafood restaurant. We ordered the chef's selection, which consisted of a bite-sized appetizer, a very small main dish, and a good (but small) dessert. Since we weren't ordering drinks, the hostess did not want to seat us nearest the beach (we were seated at the back, until we asked to be moved).

All in all, I doubt we'd return, except maybe for dessert. We thought it would be a good value, but we left hungry.

Important note: the chef's selection included Walu as the seafood selection. Be aware that this fish can cause severe health issues in some folks, like me (I was glad my wife asked before we ordered the 'fish' on the menu). Search 'walu poisoning' for more information. That's enough for me to knock a star off, in and of itself. It's dangerous to customers.

We had the early bird special which was delicious. A very popular restaurant right off if the beach. Just stroll on in for a tasty meal. The staff was very knowledge about how the chef prepared the food and the ingredients.
