Description: On the water's edge on Kaanapali Beach, Hula Grill offers a stunning view of the Pacific and of the islands of Lanai and Molokai that has to be seen to be believed. From this distinctly Hawaiian vantage point, you are invited to join us as we celebrate the hospitality, culture and cuisine of the islands. Dinner is served in our open-air dining room where you can relax in the ambiance of a plantation era beach house while enjoying renown chef Peter Merriman's Hawaii regional seafood that isn't only a favorite of vacationers, but locals, too. Hawaiian fresh fish and locally grown produce are combined to create amazing menu offerings that are as colorful as they are flavorful. Fiery sunsets are served up daily along with live Hawaiian entertainment. Our Barefoot Bar offers a more casual menu serving both lunch and dinner under authentic thatch roof umbrellas and a sand floor where you can sink your toes in. The Barefoot Bar is seated on a walk-in basis only.

“Great lunch spot”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2013

Recommend a stop here - good food and very good service. Really nice venue especially if you sit outside at one of the tables with shade. The lunchtime entertainment can be a bit loud but you can sit in a section to the right that provides the same atmosphere with the music more as background. It is also, as other reviews suggest, a great people watching venue and can be quite entertaining. You get three hours of free parking at Whaler's Village also!

“Tourist Delight”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2013 via mobile

Great views, especially at sunset, great people watching, excellent well prepared and presented fish dishes, really nifty desserts. However, it is set up to attract the hoards of tourists located in the vicinity either coming from Whaler's Village or walking along the beach path. If you are looking for a place where the locals can get the same food for less, pass this up. We decided to go there based on recommendations in the guide books and relatives. I had the ono grilled, substituting risotto for the mashed potato and asparagus, my wife had the chef's pairing, opa and wahu one grilled the other sautéed, for dessert we had their specialty ice cream sandwich and a combination of pineapple upside down cake with vanilla ice cream topped with meringue. So, why not 5 stars, my meal while properly cooked was not served right from the grill, but had sat under the heat lamps, understandable, given the number of tables to which each server had to attend, but not acceptable. Oh, by the way, it's part of a chain of similar restaurants in Hawaii and California.

“Loved this restaurant!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2013

This was one of our favorite restaurants in Maui. We ate here several times while we were staying at the nearby Whaler condominiums. The food, service and atmosphere were all outstanding. The view is awesome and we got to watch some breath-taking sunsets here. I was thrilled that they had menus for people with food allergies (gluten, nuts, etc.), because I have celiac disease and really have to stick to a gluten-free diet. They are a bit pricey, but it's worth it!

“Great food and fun place to people-watch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 15, 2013

We ate here three different times during our 7-day stay at Kaanapali Beach. We tried the Barefoot menu (they offer two choices) the second time and preferred it over the full dinner menu. You can also eat from both menus at the bar. I ate the Firecracker Fish dish twice and loved it. We tasted various items from their menu and nothing was bad. It's located in a fun, lively spot on the edge of Whaler's Village. Servers and bartenders were always friendly. It gets crowded at sunset as you can see the sunset, for the most part, from here. Enjoyed the entertainment, too.

“Love the desserts!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2013

Great sunset views, daily entertainment and very good food. Our server "Coach" assisted us with menu selections. Enjoyed desserts. Our 1st visit was upside down pineapple cake topped with meringue, our 2nd visit a massive slice of an ice cream sandwich which was free just by showing our prior receipt! The bar is also outside and was a fun place to unwind.
