We stayed and the Honua Kai so Duke's was right there. Food and drink were pricey, but happy hour brought it down to earth somewhat. Great place in terms of view and vibe.

We had both lunch and dinner at this restaurant. They have two menus, one a little more extensive and more expensive. The other is simpler and more affordable. The restaurant is open air with outdoor seating available. Unless you want an hour or more wait for a table, get there at off hours.

The restaurant has great atmosphere and the food is tasty but your also paying a premium for both the name and location. Lets face it, nothing in Maui is inexpensive but we just didn't feel we got our money's worth as far as the food compressor other restaurants. Service was not as efficient as it should have been. It appeared the staff was a little over worked or had to many tables. We were unfortunate enough to be seated next to a large family that didn't believe in controlling their children. The tables were close enough together that this was an issue.

This wasn't the first Dukes we've patronized. Generally we've found them inconsistent. I don't think we'll be back. To expensive, to crowded and there are better options for our dollars.

When you become familiar with Maui, you also become familiar with the restaurants. Leilani's, Hula Grill, Kimo's and Duke's are all owned by the same company, which makes going to any of them a sure thing. While you may see some similar menu items or preparations from place to place, each has some unique items. The service is always good and friendly. The views usually can't be beat. Duke's is no exception. This location is buried along the ocean edge of a resort, which can make it a bit tricky to find, but there is adequate signage to get you there, and located in North Kaanapali, so a little on the edge of the hustle and bustle. Great sunset location. Make reservations if dining in peak hours.

For many of the seven days during our stay at Honua Kai, we relied on Duke's Beach House to provide nourishment and refreshment. The pool side service staff were very friendly, but we found the drinks to be overpriced and watered down, so we didn't order "too" many of those. Duke's poolside lunch was very tasty, but again, pretty darn pricey for a simple lunch by the pool. You pay for convenience, and we willingly obliged. Our last night, we reserved a table on the patio to have dinner, watch the sunset, and bid the beautiful island of Maui farewell. Our table was ready when we checked in, the drinks were MUCH better than poolside, our server was great, and dinner was surprisingly delicious!! My son and I enjoyed the swordfish, which was honestly the best fish I have ever tasted. We ate seafood every day on the island, and this was, by far, the best tasting meal we had. It was such a pleasant experience having dinner at Duke's on the patio. Even if you go after sunset, the tiki torches and the sound of the ocean create a very special setting. The vibe was pretty chill, and you can tell most of the customers are relaxed and just happy to be there. The crowning moment was the complimentary slice of hula pie (if you have a meal at Duke's poolside you will receive a voucher for a free slice of pie). Our family of four easily split one slice, and we love dessert! My only real negatives were the fact that in spite of our great server, we did not receive our meals at the same time and had to wait about five minutes for half the plates to arrive. Additionally, our server made it clear (without being rude or abrupt) he was interested in turning our table over as quickly as possible by taking the completed check (with his 20% tip) very shortly after we got our credit card back. I find this to be in bad form for a $200 dinner for four, but it didn't spoil the experience. We are certainly not "campers" and had our well-behaved kids with us, but after dessert was over I felt like we were being watched like hawks to get up and leave. Not a happy ending to an otherwise perfect meal/experience. That being said, we will be enjoying Duke's Beach House again next time we visit Maui.

duke's is part of the TS restaurant company (inlcudes kimo's, hula grill, leilani's, dukes locations in hi and calif)
the dukes on maui has a nice location for sunset dining and decent food. Hula grill (in assoc. with merriman) is the best of the chain IMO.
Dukes may be a notch above kimo's in food quality but not the variety of hula grill or quality
they seem to use items off of all the menus of the restaruants.
highlights could be the mango ribs, any fresh fish, crab macnut wontons . I would not suggest the onion soup, it's not bad but's it's not great either.
ceasar salad is pretty generic. most time I've been for lunch or dinner, service has been good, but it's a bit of a "turn and burn'' place your going to get your food served in a prompt order for the most part, hanging out at your table is probably not really encouraged.
with all TS stores, the decorations, memeorabilia and koa wood used generously, are done very well.........I would rate this a mid range restaurant, there are worse and there are better but all in all this is good
