This place was quiet, spacious, very clean and the perfect distance from town. We loved the full kitchen and that it was right on the water (no beach though, and apparently the water's not good for swimming in). The price made it the best deal, and they were accommodating about letting us check in early, and store our stuff after check out. There's no AC, but because of the breeze at night, it was actually the only night we ended up using our blankets! Would definitely return!

Room Tip: Pick a room with east facing windows to get a breeze during the night -- there's no AC (but there are nice fans)

Clean and beautiful place to stay. Convenient location. The owner was very nice and kindly provided us a lot of help.

The apartment was not so good at sound proof, but I guess that's just a part of staying on an island.

I stayed here when I was a kid and recently went back. It's beautifully kept, quiet and peaceful. It's a short walk from the center of town; I much prefer this than either staying at the beach or staying in the middle of town. Sleeping with the sound of the waves of the bay was awesome. No breakfast, but the room had a fully equipped kitchen. No A/C, only ceiling fans, but the wind was good enough to keep the room ventilated.

As others have said, you almost want to keep this place a secret!

This place was a highlight of our stay on Culebra. My partner and I loved the villa and the location. In fact, had we more time, we would have spent full days just lounging around the villa: laying out on the dock, reading, cooking, napping, you name it. Villa Fulladosa is not the kind of place you are itching to escape in the morning and dreading returning to at night. It's a retreat unto itself! The highlights of this place are: simplicity, cleanliness, real kitchen, the view, the location, the peace and quiet, general privacy, and the friendly host.

Its location on the bay gave us beautiful views. At night, the lights from houses dotted throughout the hills across the water made for a very romantic backdrop for home cooked dinners on our private patio. The property also has lovely trees and plants and its own private dock, which adds to the comfort. Our first floor room (really an apartment) had a front entrance as well as a back exit which opened up to our covered patio facing the water. The covered patio was perfect since it poured rain the first night, but still allowed us to sit outside. The apartment had plenty of windows, and though it can be a little dark inside when the shades are drawn (good for sleeping in), once you open them it's nice and bright and you have a direct view of the water. The front door leads out to the gated "front yard" area, not directly to the street, which means there is not too much street noise, and it feels private. I hardly saw other guests. The kitchen was fully equipped with utensils, pots, bowls, etc, good appliances, and even some necessary condiments. Also the kitchen is large (well, by new york standards) so we loved cooking there. We are vegetarian so we cooked just about all of our meals. The bathroom was fine, with a large shower and hot water. Best of all, Villa Fulladosa is very CLEAN! The place is no-frills, but it's highly comfortable, clean, simple, and relaxing.

Location:
We debated whether to stay on the bay or on the beach. I am glad we chose the bay-- Villa Fulladosa was a very short walking distance to the town (5 minutes?), removed enough that it was quiet, but close enough that we could walk anywhere in town, so we never needed to rent a car. (Note: the villa is a short walk to the ferry dock where you can catch publicos/taxi shuttles to the beach). Also, in hindsight, I preferred the tranquillity of the harbor as opposed to the ocean, which I think might have been too windy, too sandy, etc. It was nice to go to the beach and be able to retreat to our quiet, comfortable abode.

If you are a couple looking for a quiet retreat, but don't want to spend top dollar for a private villa somewhere, this is the best alternative. It's affordable, has everything you need, and it feels fairly private. Also, we are a gay couple, and felt very welcome.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the water. I really liked our bottom floor room, but a top floor room might have a better view, and be quieter or feel more private (and less overheard conversations from outside). Top floor rooms also have both covered and uncovered patio sapce.

Our third time back to this amazing island. The first with our 2 year old daughter. It was a toss up between a rental house out near Zoni beach, our friends shack near the airport or in town accommodations. Our friends from Colorado met us down there and had stayed at Fulladoza before. They told us exactly what it turned out to be. Affordable, quiet, and convenient. It's far enough outside of the village center to bring down the decibel level. Close enough to walk anywhere you want in 5 minutes. Very much enjoyed my nightly stroll down to the Dinghy Dock for a night cap with the salty sailors. Myrna and Carlos are both incredible hosts and have been on the island a long time. We happen to be in the lodging business as well and could tell right away that our stay would be relaxing and way too short. I have a book in your library I couldn't quite get through. So until next time.... The O'Sheas
