“Absolutely Wonderful!”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

Conveniently located in between town and Flamenco beach, this place was an awesome stay. Fred picked us up from the ferry and showed us a few places we could have dinner. The next day Fred took us on a very informative, interesting tour of the island. Fred's tour gave my husband the confidence to overcome his fear of the ocean and snorkel with me! Fred even showed us where the sea turtles would be so we could be sure to spot them. :) It was so awesome swimming next to the sea turtles. Lori showed us around the guesthouse and the beautiful garden. We ate fresh mangoes daily that fell from the trees and enjoyed waking up to the roosters crows. I was very pleased at the cleanliness of the guesthouse. It was the cleanest place I've been to in Puerto Rico and this was my second visit to PR in 2 years. The guesthouse is well decorated and well stocked with essentials like shampoo, bug spray, and kitchen items if you decide to make a small meal on the hot plates. The local grocery store is conveniently located less than 5 minutes walking distance from the house. We slept on both the bed and the futon and both were comfortable. The a/c worked superb and having the ceiling fans was also a treat in the humid weather. An absolute PLUS for me was the available scuba gear, beach chairs, and cooler. It made our beach experience much nicer and way more convenient.
Lori and Fred are so hospitable and I very much look forward to staying with them next year!

My friend and I stayed at the Mango Fish for a week in July and it was incredibly spectacular. Fred's welcome tour was very helpful, and with it, we navigated the island easily for the rest of the week. We both loved the cozy charm of the guesthouse and enjoyed the comfort of relaxing within, in between the island adventures of exploring and snorkeling.

The island folks were friendly and helpful. The cuisine was tremendous - all of Fred and Lori's recommendations were spot on. Our favorite eatery was their top recommendation of locale fare. Fred and Lori also recommended a Sea Captain who was especially accommodating and charming.

Everything we experienced about the island, Fred and Lori and our overall stay exceeded our expectations. Culebra is not a five star resort island - and thank God! It is a place of retreat, relaxation and peace. We would stay with Fred and Lori again at the Fishhouse and can't thank them enough for their kindness and gracious hosting. Fred and Lori are the perfect balance of an accommodating host and hostess and respectful of privacy as guests. We can't wait to return to visit the island.

Very friendly very comfortable. We had a very nice tour when we showed up to the island. They were very knowledgeable about the island. The room was very clean. There are many things to do on that island very beautiful beaches and not to mention pretty good food there too.

We had the pleasure of spending 2 nights (sadly, only 2 nights) at the Mango Fish guesthouse and loved it! Lori and Fred are such warm and welcoming people and very, very helpful with everything - from coordinating our arrival, to helping us find a car rental (the VW thing from Jerry is the only way to go) and sharing their favorite spots on the island - including where to swim with turtles! I can't say enough about how wonderful and helpful they are:)

The guesthouse itself is very comfortable, clean and charmingly decorated, with A/C and a well-stocked mini kitchen. They have thought of everything that a weary traveller might want or need. We also appreciated the snorkel and beach gear that was available for use. Even the beach towels are fantastic.

The location is great, but its best to have a rental car for getting around Culebra as there is so much to explore. The guesthouse is in an ideal location close to the airport, and not far from spectacular Flamenco Beach.

We would definitely return - but next time for longer!

A Week in Paradise

Immaculate and funky and stocked with everything you could possibly need, i.e. especially appreciated snorkeling equipment, coolers, and beach chairs and towels. Loved the location as we could walk into town or to Flamenco ( we are walkers but did rent a golf cart for part of our stay). The island is not for travelers needing hotel, shopping, fancy restaurants, or any nightlife...however perfect for us...Lori and Fred are incredibly gracious and generous hosts and provided us a truly authentic Culebra experience!

We stayed in Mango Fish guesthouse in early September. We chose it based on the reviews from Tripadvisor. The location is great 5 minute-walk from the airport and half an hour walk from the famous Flamenco beach. The owners of the guesthouse are a friendly couple who did their best to familiarize us with the area (Fred made a tour around the island showing where to eat, where to snorkel, where to rent a car) and make us feel comfortable. We stayed in a cute room decorated with books with a king-size bed and all the necessary things. The room has air-conditioning and fridge.

Lori and Fred are great host, we had a blast stayed in December of last year. The casita is awesome for a small family we did nothing but relax, read, watch movies on my computer at night. It was very clean and bright. Breakfast on the veranda in the morning was awesome. The casita is the pearl of Culebra. We will make this our return casita our next time on Culebra.
