“A Special Place”
Reviewed May 24, 2012

The Culebra Community Library is a real oasis in the modern day world of corporate organizations and big business. This little library was created with love and community effort. The selection of books is first-rate, as people passing through and on island donate some of their good reads. Lori Novis has filled the children's room with wonderful kids' books through her grantwriting skill and effort. Claire Fallon, Culebra's very own yoga maestra, is in charge of the little movie theatre, and she selects films based on a theme each month. Seeing a movie in a theatre the size of a shoebox (it is housed in a donated trailer) is simply one of the 'most fun' things you can ever do. I loved watching a Pedro Almodavar classic with friends in this tiny, quirky 'movie house'.

This library has made such a difference in the life of Culebra, for residents and for those just passing through.

You will enjoy the friendly, bilingual staff, and meet other nice and interesting people, when you visit.. The porch (with free Wi-fi!) is a nifty hang out spot, and provides a bit of shade from the tropical sun. You can browse through the free books, or check out the books for loan in air conditioned comfort in the library itself.

“The whole world at your fingertips”
Reviewed May 24, 2012

Culebra library is an amazing place where you can find books, get online, watch the latest movie in the cute little movie with red velvet chairs, saw your torn pants or sails on a miracle-working sewing machine, do yoga, see a theatrical performance, meet the book club members, attend a local dog welfare fundraising party, see and buy art of local artist, enjoy carpet stretch time with your kinds, find multi lingual books..I am sure I have forgotten something...Delightful place to visit and spend time at..It is what libraries are meant to be-the whole world..

“Fantastic”

Not enough has been said about Nadeen's involvement in this libraries success. Dottie and she have given so much time and love in this project. They have made it a comfortable space to meet and have invited many groups to use the grand porch created by Billy Thomas!!!!
A must see and visit with your family and friends while on Culebra

“A Treasure Trove of Books, Internet, Movie Theater and More!”
Reviewed May 22, 2012

The Culebra Community Library is around the corner from Colmada Milkas ... On the way to El Eden Restaurant. It is an oasis of great books (the ones on the deck are FREE), wonderful staff, and Internet access. It is open from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, Monday thru Saturday. Most of the staff are bilingual. There is a great collection of children's books and books for teens. The adult collection has a wide variety of fiction, non-fiction, biographies and Spanish literature. They are always accepting books in good condition, particularly children's books, bilingual books and Spanish books. Patrons can sit on the deck and access WiFi or use the computers inside; there is a printer and scanner too! A wonderful feature is the Caribbean Cinema -- a real movie theater ... The movie schedule can be found on Facebook under Cine Culebra or at www.cineculebra.com. The library depends on donations as it is not part of a library system nor an initiative of the government; it was begun by a group of private citizens and depends on volunteers and monetary donations to sustain itself. The Culebra Community Library is an amazing tribute to this small island and is a true community initiative.
