Fantastic location, walking distance into town, ferry dock and some restaurants. Room was clean, simple, comfortable. Staff not very friendly or helpful, with the exception of Lucy.

I agree with the previous reviews. Villa Boheme is exactly as advertised. Great location, right in the town of Dewey. It is within walking distance to a couple of grocery stores, and restaurants. Seems like you can pretty much walk through the entire town in 20 minutes. We stayed in the king sized room with the kitchenette. More than enough room for two people. It was very quiet during our stay, since we were there during the week. The only thing is that there are roosters all over the place. So, I would recommend ear plugs if you want to sleep past 3am. Even with that, we would definitely stay there again.

I recommend this hotel. The rooms are clean, but nothing fancy. What you are paying for here is an absolutely great location with very nice grounds right on Culebra's main harbor (Ensenada Honda). Within 2 minutes, you can walk to four of Culebra's restaurants (Dingy Dock (essentially next door), Eden, Susie's, and Mamacita's) and one of the main grocery stores (Milka). You are about 5 minutes walk from the ferry terminal. We stayed in room 10, the largest and most expensive with two double beds, a semi-full kitchen, and a huge balcony with a great view of the harbor. I appreciated the size when we later went to a much smaller hotel room in Vieques. The shower was large and always had plenty of hot water. The only negative I can think of is that screens were missing from two of the three windows. Even though you can easily walk from Villa Boheme to everything in town, you will still want to rent a vehicle to go to all of Culebra's beaches.

We were happy with this hotel for multiple reasons. Culebra is a mixed bag when it comes to rentals. Much of what you see when you get there is not how it looked in the pictures that you saw online. It is amazing how creative people can be with adding views of the water or omitting the neighbor's house that is literally on top of your rental. I can't stress this enough. If it looks iffy it probably is. This is not the case for Villa Boheme. It is exactly what you think that you are getting. It is very well maintained. It is in a great location, on the water, just off of town but on a quieter street. You walk to most of the businesses on the island. You probably will want to rent a car to go to Zoni or explore for a day or two. The management was friendly and helpful but let you be on your own when you didn't need them. The shared kitchen facilities (our room didn't have a kitchen) were very clean and allowed you to meet your neighbors. We found the price to be a good one for what we got in return.

Very friendly and helpful staff, and the view of the harbor was lovely. We had the room with the kitchen and spacious balcony, both of which were very helpful to have, even if the kitchen was not modern. The place was no more or less than had been promised, and certainly no less than other places in the main town. It was walking distance to everything in town, and you could even walk to the airport if you had to! And on our check-out day, they let us leave the luggage there and return to shower and change so that we could enjoy one more day in Culebra. Would stay here again without hesitation. - AA in New Jersey.

I stayed in villa Boheme a couple of years ago, have to say that after traveling across Latin America and the Caribbean there is something special about Villa Boheme and Culebra. It has to be one of the best places to relax that you can find, its a no frills small hotel, but it is five stars for tranquility. The hotel overlooks the Ensenada bay and sunrises & afternoons are amazing. Try to stay in the second floor room with the king bed, has a small balcony were you can sit to admire the amazing view.

My husband and I went to San Juan for vacation but wanted to get off the beaten path. People in San Juan recommended we go to Culebra and see the beautiful beaches.
We hopped on a flight to Culebra at the last minute (arranged quickly through our hotel concierge), and went with no reservations for a hotel. One of the locals recommended a few places including Villa Boheme.

We wandered in to this very cute property and got a room right away. The owner allowed us to view the room before paying. The rooms are simple and small, but they are clean, and the A/C works well. We were only there for two days, but if we had been there longer, we would have made use of the patio area which is a nice spot for hanging out. FYI, this is an island, so you can't throw TP in the toilet, and the water has a bit of an odd odor. Nothing unusual for islands. After we checked out, the owner let us borrow some towels and use the changing room--I'm sure she didn't have to, but she did, and it was really nice since we only brought backpacks with us.

Right next door is a restaurant/bar, the Dinghy Dock, which we liked. There's not much on the island, but two small grocery stores, a bakery that sells coffee, and other bars/restaurants are within close walking distance. From the area where the inn is, you can get a taxi van that goes to Flameco beach for $2. The airport is actually pretty close, too--maybe a 15 minute walk.

Do some research before you go, and make sure this is your type of place. It is not a luxury resort area, and really, there aren't a lot of tourists. Depending on the kind of travel you enjoy, this may be good or bad. You have to deal with mosquitos, a bit of dirt, and roosters running around (and also a flight on a tiny plane that is a little scary), but if you're willing to handle it you'll be rewarded with some of the best beaches around, without massive crowds, bad attitudes, or high-rises. Flamenco is everything you could want in a beach: perfect powdery sand, clear warm water, and plenty of open space. Also, we found the people who live on this small island very friendly--and tolerant of tourists.

Important advice: Use lots of sunscreen, and put the bug spray on BEFORE you even get on the plane. We wish we had.
