Review of Culebrita Island

Imagine the deserted island of your dreams. You're on Culebrita. A terrific reef for snorkeling, a hike to a deserted lighthouse with ridiculous 360 views of the island and area, and Tortuga Bay, a beach that can rival any on Culebra, complete the unforgettable experience.

Great day trip it is really just a smaller version of flamenco beach. If you only have one out island excursion maybe go to Luis Pena island reserve on the other side to mix it up. But this place is beautiful and you can see St. Thomas island from here as well as from Zoni. Beach on Culebra.

Culebrita is paradise ! Beautiful torquise waters that have many coral reefs, It is idea place for snorkleing . I had planned on visiting this island for five years. It was well worth the trip. I use Culebra blue water charters for my water taxi. It was excellent service David took us to the island and stayed with us so we would not feel abandoned .
His wife later led us on a trail to tortuga beach which is torquise waveless beach with plenty of brush and palm trees for shade it can be secluded and very romantic. Because this island is a reserve for wild life I recommend wearing deet to prevent insect bites when possible.I recommend this service to those who are going for the first time or those who would like a more personalized service. Culebra blue water charter also offer snorkle rental equipment for a small fee. You may visit their page at culebra blue water adventures on facebook or by calling 1 201 6545290 .

For as beautiful as Flamenco is, I might even rank Culebrita as higher on my list. Many Culebra locals have a boat and for about $50/pp can take you to the island for about five hours.

They usually provide snorkeling gear, maybe some snacks. It's a standard package around the island. You'll be dropped off at the mangroves, climb the hill to explore the dilapidated lighthouse, then snorkel (some of the most amazing snorkeling here) for a while. You can then head to Tortuga beach to relax for a while, basking in the lucid milky-blue waters with a handful of yachts (on a busy day) anchored around you.

I recommend going with David, who also tends bar at Club Seabourne Hotel. He'll give you a very friendly and personal experience.

this guy brought over a group of tourists and the crazy boat guy anchored his boat literally right in front of our tent and sat in his boat staring at us-so close I would be able to point him out in a lineup....kinda ruined the trip.did not feel comfortable exploring the island with this guy hanging around
