Visited Culebra last year and I'm still thinking about dinner at Barbara Rosa's. Have the shrimp~it was the best meal we had during our 9 days in Puerto Rico.

On a drizzly March 7 we had a delightful experience here. Two of us had crab cakes: four meaty cakes and fries that were delicious. One had pork chops and rice and also good. We had lobster bisque for an appetizer and it was hot and full of meat. We shared a key lime pie that was exceptional. It is a unique experience here and all dining is outside under a veranda. Exceptionally good value and of the four restaurants we experienced in Culebra this was the overall the best value.

Like everything in Culebra, Barbara Rosa is a little odd. It's like you walk into her house, place the order through a window in her living room, and then have seat in the living room or on the porch til she calls you and tells you it's ready. She had a big party of 10 ahead of us that night (we made friends with them later) and told us we'd have to wait a least 30 minutes. We had no where else to be, so we waited. You may have to wait, too. Several others left. In the end, the food was ok. My partner had the tuna steak and I had the fish and chips. What's really need about this is that you can tell this woman works very hard to do what she does, and you really feel like she cooked it just for you. Try it out, I think you'll enjoy. Oh - don't forget the mosquito spray. We got bitten up pretty good.

Fantastic food, casual atmosphere, you walk up to the kitchen and Barbara takes your order. She prepares your meal from scratch and while you are waiting you can sit on the patio or watch TV inside. The food really hit the spot (excellent mahi mahi and skirt steak). She will offer different sides if you choose and aims to please.

Loved the laid-back scene, BYOB, and great food. Visiting with Barbara was a real treat; she is a very interesting and kind lady.

it is not gourmet...but you will have a choice among barbara's range of specialties -- all of which she has perfected carefully. It is not fancy...no, no. It is a great bargain, in part because there is no wait staff. ya gotta get a table first and get in line, they call you when it's ready, and it may take a while (due to the crowds usually) since barbara does it all singlehandedly...but it is worth the wait.

A great porch dining area to enjoy the warm evening, bring your own wine or beer and it is hard to ask for a better evening on this quiet island. You pay when done...and please don't stiff them (as some idiots inevitably do) because they are nice people providing a great service and they work very hard.

You won't believe how reasonable the prices are for a nice meal. A solid track record from this little eatery, one of my personal favorites among several good choices on this island. I always end up here for several meals each time I visit.
