“rude”
Reviewed September 19, 2012

a group of five of us from various parts of the world came in on a whim around 6pm and ordered some food and beers. the beers came and around the time we finished them we asked about our food (another table, of locals, had been served), which they assured us was coming so we got another round of beers. an hour has passed and there is no sign of any food even being prepared. the other table had long since finished and gone. it's not fine dining, it's burgers and fries. since it became apparent that foreigners are not welcome at el batey, we paid for our beers and left after waiting well over an hour. pretty poor way to treat people, in my opinion.

“eat, drink and ....”
Reviewed August 9, 2012

This is a place not to eat, but to have a drink, play pool and mingle with the locals, that by the way are very friendly. You can also ask for the menu, and you can gorge in the traditional food. Not heathy food at all, but it is very tasty.

“Cheap beer, fun place!”
Reviewed July 27, 2012 via mobile

This was my boyfriend and my first stop after leaving the airport in Culebra. We went here because it was in waking distance to our casita. We are so glad we did! The beers were like, $1.25 I think and the bartender was friendly. He told us about Bushwackers (amazing drink) and about renting a vehicle. He also told us what nights would be busy there and that the Wednesday that we were here was a holiday. He informed us also, of the lack laws here including drinking and driving, walking and drinking, but wear your seat belt! He was helpful! We went back a few nights later and the place was full of people (20s crowd? & gays) dancing and having a great time. I had to laugh when I read others' reviews about this place being gay friendly because we noted when there that this was the only place on the island we had seen any gay people. Don't get me wrong though, this isn't a gay bar or uncomfortably gay, just 3 or 4 guys that were REALLY good dancers, among the 50 others on the floor. This place seems to draw a huge crowd when the island is busy and it seems as thought the younger people come here. The slightly older crowd was at Sandbar dancing and singing karaoke to some Spanish music. (we are in our mid 20s and had just as much fun there lol)

“Not a good choice”
Reviewed July 18, 2012 via mobile

The place had a somewhat nice atmosphere but the service was awful, the food took over an hour and the man forgot to do things we asked. The best part of the night was playing pool.

“Good Cheeseburgers but Slow”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

Food was good, but service, even for an island eatery, is lacking. Pool hall atmosphere.
