If you know someone who lives in culebra go visit them for a good home cooked meal. If you don't then come to Nina's, cause thats what her food tastes like, a good home cooked meal. Everything is fresh and tasty. The menu is limited but everything we tried from the red snapper (caught that day) to the shrimp in creole sauce with mofongo was exceptional. Not to mention the great service.

I can't believe this restaurant is not rated higher on this site. Im so glad we ate here since all the top rated restaurants were closed the day we were in culebra.

We've been coming to Culebra for 6 years and were excited to see a new local type place open up. so tried it. Both of us got the same thing - grouper and dufongo. The fish was good, but no better than what we'd had at Dingy Dock or the other new place in town, Caracole's. It comes with a small, room temperature house salad. (They put bottles of salad dressing on the table. Weird.) The setting is beyond casual. You are almost in their parking lot basically. They have a couple of cabins for rent and that's where the tenants park. There's no parking on the street so it's not easy to figure out how to actually get there if you're driving. It certainly doesn't add to any atmosphere since there is jockeying for spots in the driveway as you eat. Also, I suggest you get there before dark because lighting is dim - not that easy to eat a whole grouper without a mouthful of bones in dim light. (Romantic? If you like a parking lot view) The other thing that must be mentioned is that it is cash only - which they don't tell you. Thankfully we were able to pull a 20 out of my beach bag to cover the bill. Speaking of the bill, each fish dinner (which the son said he caught that day- nice guy, but not sure that wasn't a fish story) was $29! That price is on par with both the Dinghy Dock and Caracole's, way nicer establishments that do serve liquor (which means you would expect higher prices to cover the overhead).
If you're looking for decent fish in a mom and pop type place (which we usually love - come back Barbara Rosa!) and don't mind a parking lot atmosphere at top dollar, this is for you. By the way, the server (the owner's son) is a really nice kid! He's the reason I gave it 1 more "star" on the rating.

Thank Chatham
