Excellent for late night drinks with friends and family. It's an outdoor scene with flat screen TV's and most tables overlooking the channel (with plenty of fish). Some people pull up on their boats to have dinner and mingle with the locals. The scene is charming -- reminded me of House of Blues.

Mamacita's was just what we needed from the moment we arrived in Culebra. As soon as we checked in to Casa Ensenada, we were eager to find a nice place were we could eat and have a couple of refreshing beverages. We hit the street not knowing where to go, but with an obvious and eager look that required no words. We spotted a local walking by and asked where to eat. "Go that way and turn left. Look for the sign that says 'Mamacita's." Upon entering, we had two icy cold Corona's in our hands in less than 3 minutes. Our food arrived no more than 20 minutes after placing the order.

But the highlight of this place is definitely Saturday nights at 9pm. The "rumberos" play congas for two hours making even those with three left feet want to dance. El que no baila, canta; el que no canta toca. The "ambiente" really lights up and everyone feels like family and friends. No one is a foe. It was a beautiful experience, one that I will not easily forget.

By far, the best and fastest service that we got in Culebra. The food was great and the location was very nice as well. Open air dining is always nice. It packs out fast, so get there early.

We arrived around 10:30 a.m. after getting off the ferry ride from Fajardo. Since I had been there before, I knew Mamacita's was within walking distance so we bypassed all the taxis taking people to the beach. They weren't serving lunch yet, but the staff invited us to help ourselves to coffee so we sat by the waterway and visited with the iguanas.

The bartender/owner didn't like making blended drinks so we heard him complain to the waitress, but it was all in good fun and when I asked for mine on the rocks, he felt so bad, he picked up the tab on our drinks! I love coconut rum and parcha (passion fruit juice), very smooth.

We ate our sandwiches, very tasty, and walked back to where the ferry dropped us off because there is a fixed taxi rate of $2 each way to Flamenco Beach versus catching a taxi from Mamacita's where they can charge you whatever.

Next time I would like to stay overnight at Mamacita's. Do NOT stay at Hotel Kokomo, we tried that last time in 2007 and it was so dirty, we cancelled our reservation, lost our deposit and went back to PR. I love PR, don't know why the previous poster did not. There are so many beautiful places, just have to know how to drive as crazy as the locals and go with the flow.

We had a great time hanging out at Mamacitas for a few hours after a day at the beach and before we caught the ferry back to Fajardo!

The service was great and soooo friendly, unlike we experienced in most of Puerto Rico where we had to fight for attention and service.

The bartender mixes up a damn good margarita on the rocks (a perfect elixer to counter the sun's dehydrating effects) and they have a better selection of beers than most places we visited on the main island.

There are huge iguanas that hang out with you and pose a lot for you to take their picture in the sun. The locals there - if there is such a thing - ignore them, similar to the way we ignore squirrells in Ohio.

We didn't stay overnight at Mamacita's Guesthouse, but I wish we had. Both of us pretty much decided we disliked most of Puerto Rico and wouldn't return with the exception of this little sleepy island of Culebra. We wish we would have spent all of our time there!
