Only stayed at the Melia for one night, but had a terrific time. The resort was clean and the staff were helpful and friendly. The food was excellent, which was a pleasant surprise!

The beach was fairly narrow, but there were lots of places to get shade, and really, who can complain when it's 65 degrees warmer than where you came from?

Though we didn't get to stay long this time, I would definitely return.

booked with thomas cook and had a horendus flight.we were ignored by sullen staff and paid 4 extra leg room only 4 people to walk past kicking us and trampling on us. "manager" said he couldnt put an announcement out and walked away. charming cus service, needless to say i have complained, lets see if i get a reply, also had a possed child who screached 4 the whole 10+hours, and used my husbands chair as a punch bag. no matter what looks were given by other people, they let him screach,i wish they would do child free fligts, oh what bliss.on to holiday, stayed at melia cayo coco for two weeks. what a place, every one smiled, no matter how busy they were.must say a huge thank u to pool bar staff, entertainment staff, and restraunt staff, fab food and fab service, allways with a smile.orlando in snooker bar makes the best banaa mamas and when u turn around ur glass is full wow, and a extra big thank you to joel who works so hard and is happy to chat t u,he flies around on his golf cart helping people all day, nothing is too much 4 him, and his lovely wife, a cook in the buffet. please if u go take any toiletries and old shoes as they r very gratefull 4 them. met some great people and had a very relaxing holiday in a child free resort.could not get over the food, it was soooooo good, u would not no they had an embargo.arrived at the airport and realised i left my wedding and engagement (£1000) in the open safe. kate(rep) phoned and joel raced to our room and found them. i am so gratefull to the maid and joel, he even tried to find the crew as they had not left hotel. got a taxi back and joel raced me around back to get them, didnt have time to thank everyone, but loved the hotel so much, am planning to go back in may.must say the staff def made our holiday. thank u so much. best hotel on cayo coco, had oppertunity to check out the others, and not every one got the fab food we had, as we spoke to people who stayed at other resorts who had tummy bugs. thank u so much for a fantastic holiday, amm looking at virgin flights though . mr & mrs ferrisxxx

Wonderful trip. Highly recommend the Melia. The food at the buffet and the a la carte restaurants was delicious. Beautiful beach and snorkeling at the reef right in front of the hotel! The hotel staff were friendly and efficient. Activities available on-site were terrific. Hobie Cat, wind-surfing. The nightly shows were amazing.

All in all a great spot close enough to Pillar Beach which is a must see.

Would highly recommend this hotel.

(Only pit-fall .... so many smokers in the lobby, beach, amphitheatre, by the pool)

Anyone know if entirely non-smoking resorts exist?

I would recommend this hotel and the location. The staff were the friendest I have ever met, from the gardener to the bar staff, everyone was very friendly and helpful they made our holiday. With it being adults only this was an added bonus. We walked up to the other hotels and turned around when we saw noisy children around the pool area. My only critism was that my husband and I went there to windsurf and sail for the second half of our holiday, we couldn't because the sail boats were hobby craft and despite our 15 year sailing experience they would only send the boats out with an instructor and they only had one windsurf board and sail 4.5 meters which was not at all suitable as my husband is very experienced windsurfer. the winds were too light for him to go out in and when the winds did get up to a suitable level all the beach facilities were shut so he could not go out then. It didnt dampen our holiday too much he taught me how to windsurf until it got too windy. It was a little disappointing because we chose this resort to do the two sports and we couldn't.

Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you very much for your review. We are in agreement with you when state our staff is quite friendly and helpful, we are committed to offer very special service because you all deserve it. Your words full of praises will be passed onto all of them to encourage their daily work.
Regarding your comment on sailing, there must had been a misunderstanding since although regulations state an instructor should accompany all guests to sail on hobby cats, there is a way of going out without him, by just signing a liability exoneration statement. The area manager in charge is just checking this matter with the instructors form the nautical point in order to rectify any issue they should be wrong implementing. Regarding windsurfing equipment, we will also look after that. Thank you for letting us know about this matter, our guests' feedback is the most important tool we use to improve our services.
We truly hope you include our hotel under consideration when choosing your next vacation. We will be more than glad in welcoming you once again.
With best regards,

We travelled to Cayo Coco to meet up with family for a Christmas away from home. We were surprised at the deal we were able to find for the resort and extremely pleased that it turned out to be great value for money.

As a number of other people have stated, the staff throughout the resort were extremely friendly and amiable, always willing to go above and beyond to help. The endless array of drinks that Orlando made in the lagoon bar were especially welcome!

The only staff who didn't seem to fit this bracket were those in the pool bar, who, for whatever reason, never seemed as cheerful or helpful as everyone else.

We never lacked for anything to do at Cayo Coca as there always seemed to be an activity taking place at one point or another. Shooting, tennis, football, step aerobics, aqua aerobics and pool volleyball...always something to keep you interested if sunbathing by the pool was wearing a little thin.

The beach was also very secluded and lovely for a stroll. It was a very peaceful walk about a mile up and back with hardly anyone to bother you. The sea itself was a little rough but we didn't expect anything less at the Atlantic side of the island.

Food at the resort was only ok and never really got better than nice. We found the Italian restaurant especially poor as the food, although cooked ok, was poor quality and not very Italian. The International restaurant food was much better and coupled with the violin and acoustic guitar playing duo in the corner, made for an allround more pleasant evening. Surprisingly, the best food we found however was in the buffet restaurant. The freshly cooked meat/fish were always seasoned and cooked well and the risotto's were very flavoursome.

Nothing about the Cayo Coco resort is particularly spectacular but the majority of things are done to an adequately high standard. That, coupled with the effectiveness of the staff made for a very pleasant stay and one that we shall remember with fondness.

Dear Sir/Madam,
Your review is of a very remarkable importance to us, you have given us views whcih will help us to improve ont he areas you make reference. We are indeed very focused on our Specialty restaurants, you all expect they surpass Buffet choice and quality, but that opinion of the best food being served at the buffet is shared by most of our guests, so our specialty ones definitely needs improvement.
Thank you for your review, your comments on the staff effectiveness will be shared with them, we are un full agreement with you, they make most of our guests' holidays, and we are proud of it. Our committment to offer better service each passing day will remain standing so please, repeat your choice and come back, we will not dissappoint you.
With warmest regards,
José Carlos Sánchez
