“30th Wedding Anniversary Holiday”
Reviewed December 20, 2013

We travelled to the Melia for our 30th wedding anniversary, we had never been to Cuba before so didn't have any pre conceived idea's about the resort.
On first impressions the resort is beautifully laid out with well landscaped gardens...the gardeners always welcoming with a smile and a hello.Check in was very efficient and we were directed to our room within 15 mins...the fastest check in I have ever had.Reception staff were lovely and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them.
We thoroughly enjoyed the food, always cooked to perfection and the service provided by the chef's and waiters was second to non, a credit to the resort and is what sets it out from other hotels we have stayed in.
The room was functional and clean, although a little dated we didn't go on holiday to sit in our room and as long as it is clean and well maintained that is all that matters.
Tipping was never an issue, this was done because we chose too not because of any pressure from any of the staff, and why not tip for good service, we found all aspects of our holiday to be first class.
We are so looking forward to planning our next trip to the Melia, lazy days at the pool...relaxing drinks at the beach watching the days go by, and most of all returning to a lovely hotel with warm welcoming people. Roll on 2014!!! See you soon Melia x

Went to Melia in Nov, after a little mix up with our rooms we enjoyed this hotel, the food was good the nightly entertainment was great, the atmosphere was good, the beach was narrow but beautiful and when we were there the water was a bit on the rougher side. If you are looking for a rowdy time this is not the place for you the average age was probably 55 or more so pretty mild we did find people to play pool volley ball with, don't let the web site fool you they do not have beach volleyball we had to go to the Sol next door to play sand court volleyball.( not on the beach) All in all I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a nice place to relax and chill out not party

Room Tip: the 6000 block of rooms are in a great central location.

Dear Customer,
Thank you so much for reviewing your recent stay in Meliá Cayo Coco. We are very glad to read that in spite of the inconveniences with rooms it has been an enjoyable time and do look forward to welcoming you in the future. Have addressed your comment on beach volleyball to the area manager in charge for him to revise this matter. We do have to offer beach volleyball, especially when it is advertised. Thank you for recommending us for a relaxing vacation, and do look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Another fabulous trip to the Melia! The weather was absolutely perfect this year and was our first 10 day trip. Will definitely do that again. Our kudos to old and young Carlos at the beach who are always so friendly. Charles our perfect breakfast cook, and Omar the best breakfast server there is. Lunches at the beach restaurant - the chicken and ribs were fabulous everyday and the cooks superb! The wait staff is also excellent. Levon is our favorite in the lobby bar and Jusmelkys is our adored buffet evening waitress! The staff at this resort can not be beat. That being said...this was our first visit where we were very disappointed with the service and rudeness of the staff at the pool bar/restaurant. The food was awful and under-cooked and the staff didn't care about providing any measure of service. We did complain to customer service but I don't think anything was done while we were there. We also had poor service our first few days at the Billiard bar but this did improve during our stay. Neither of these issues will stop us from returning to this resort. The rooms are clean, the maid service is great and the gardeners are top notch and friendly (shout out to Borjes and Fillipe, as well as Giovanny!) The food at this resort is the best we have had in Cuba (the Italian and International are not to be missed!) and the drinks are always cold. Last but not least, our dear friend Yamil who was working the beach bar this year. Your friendship warms our heart and the resort would not be the same without you! Your friendly smile each day will keep us coming back. If anyone is interested in a trip into Moron, ask Pepe - the taxi driver William is an excellent tour guide and will take you wherever you want to go - be it in the tourist area or off the beaten path. We chose to do things the locals do and it was very interesting. Definitely go see the old factory with the rooster outside of it - this little "subdivision" is very quaint and a little better than living conditions within the Town of Moron itself. Definitely go to this resort! **As an aside and separate from the resort - we did a half day of deep sea fishing. We had a great time and caught some awesome fish! Beware - confirm with the boating staff right at the beginning if you want the fish. They do not have the right to keep them - they are yours. Make sure you set the parameters right from the start.

Dear Loyal Customer,
We are so glad to read that your third time with us has also been an enjoyable experience. Oh yes, you have perfectly hit the spot when mentioning those who outstand out for you: Yamil, Pepe, Yusmelkys, Livan… Yes, I definitely agree with you: they are great! Thank you very much for taking the time to post your review, which we have been glad to share with them all. We have noted your comments well, and yes, we did notice there was something wrong at the Snack Bar service and actions have been taken to rectify this. Please, accept my apologies for delivering poor service. This is an area we are extremely passionate at and truly care about it since we know it is our Service what makes us outstand among the others. Thank you in advance for your upcoming visits with us, you can rest assure that we will be striving in providing you with very enjoyable holiday experiences.

First of all a Big Thank you to All of the staff and Managers who work tirelessly and professionally to ensure every guest enjoys the Cuban hospitality, generosity and unwavering loyalty of the Melia . My husband and I visited the Melia for the first time in August 2013. For many years we have visited other hotels in and around Cuba and the Caribbean. The Melia far exceeded our expectations. We have found our second home. Everything from the food to the gardens to the rooms, the gorgeous beach and to the dive shop is exceptional. VIsit the Melia once and you will return year after year. From the moment you arrive you become part of the family. You will leave with wonderful memories and like so many, you wont want to leave and will be eager to return sooner rather than later.. Thank you for a wonderful vacation.. We will be returning at the end of December to celebrate the New year with the kindest, most sincere, generous, hard working people we have been fortunate to meet on our world travels... A Big Heartfelt Thank You goes to Marine, Alejandro and the all the staff from the "Blue Diving" dive shop... We promised we'd be back.. We couldn't wait til March so we will see you real soon and we did not forget the O Rings... :-)

Entertainment was top notch.
The staff treated us like family. Our needs were always looked after.
Activities galore around the pool or at the beach. Nothing too taxing just fun .
Your choice of activity or sun worshipping .
I would give it 5 stars and recommend a trip to the Melia Cayo Coco to anyone , friend or family.
Being an adult facility just added another star for us.

Room Tip: We preferred a room with a view of the water. But they are all easily accessible to the facilities y...
