This was my 7th trip to Cuba and my first to Cayo Coco Feb 4-12. I chose the Iberostar Mojito for the price, proximity to the airport and tripadvisor reviews. The previous positive comments by others reflect for the most part my experience at this resort. You definitely know they are making every effort to make this resort top notch. There is an obvious emphasis on service and the staff were very friendly. There are a large number of "bosses" walking around the resort and I assume they are ensuring everything is satisfactory. The grounds are beautifully maintained thanks to Oswaldo and others. The rooms are spotless thanks to Tamara and her colleagues. Tamara made sure there was always water in the fridge and she left us beautiful towel sculptures every day. We had a room in building 19 which had a lovely view of the beach from the 3rd floor. The food was quite good with the best salad bar I have seen in Cuba. There is something for everyone. We ate at both the International and Gourmet restaurants which are actually in the same location with different menus. A wonderful pianist plays while you dine. The international menu was the best. We did not try the Italian because it was open air beside the stage and did not provide the same quiet ambiance. The buffet is inside, noisy and somewhat cafeteria-like; nonetheless, the staff were every attentive. There were lots of choices; the breads were excellent; great selection of fresh fruit, cheeses. I would have loved some live music during dinner at the buffet. The pizza from the snack bar was very good. The lobby bar was well stocked and the champagne, dubonnet, spanish coffees etc were a hit with me. I really enjoyed when there was live music in the lobby. As others have said, the nightly shows were very well done.
I don't have any complaints per se; however the property could be improved if the lagoon was cleaner and if the closed villas over the lagoon didnt seem quite so derelict. I would also suggest that an hour or so of daily effort picking up the plastic bags and cups from the edge of the water would make a positive difference.
In terms of comparing this resort to others, I would say that this resort tries harder to make a difference. The beaches are more beautiful and expansive at Cayo Santa Maria but you have to weigh the almost 2 hour drive from the airport against the 15 minute drive in Cayo Coco. From what I could see, the Mojito's beach was better than others.
I can certainly recommend this resort!

Room Tip: Only ground floor rooms have an outdoor patio but the upper rooms are larger and do have a nice big...

Just returned from the Iberostar Mojito on feb. 13th. This was my first trip to Cayo Coco. They are working very hard to renovate this resort. I'd say that about half of it was done.

Room: The rooms are big. The furniture is dated but does the job. The only thing about the room are the matresses wich need to be replaced.

The Resort: It's big and the gardners works a lot to maintain it. The pools are clean and very nice. The site is also very clean. The water is chlorined and filtered, so it's safe to drink. Which is a big plus.

The entertainments: The have entertainment all day long. During the day, they have games, danse lessons and more.. They also have nightly shows which are very nice.

The Food: The buffet was nice with quite a bit a choices. They also had 2 choices of meat and fish at the grill for every meals which was nice. They had 3 restaurants A la carte which were good.

The Staff: The staff are friendly and very kind. You'll miss them for sure when you'll leave.

The beach: The beach is beautiful, it has white flour like sand. It's has plenty of chairs and lots of staffs to help you set them up where you want to. If you want shade, then you will have to be early as they have limited shaded spot.

Overall, I'd go back there without any hesitation!!!

Dear Guest,
We really thank you for having chosen our resort to spend your holidays and we appreciate that you have taken part of your precious time to write a review about your experience with us.

We have a very beautiful resort which looks even more beautiful due to the great effort made by our staff. Our philosophy is to make every guest feel satisfied with their holidays. The section closed will open as another Iberostar resort after major renovation. We do have plans to keep on updating rooms within this year to make then even more comfortable.

Once again, we thank you for your considerations and are looking forward to seeing you sometime in the near future to share and enjoy with the Iberostar Mojito’s team. We will not spare efforts to make your next visit always better than your previous one.

My Wife and I were at the Mojito from Jan 28th to Feb 5th for our 6th trip to Cuba but our 1st to Cayo Coco, We just booked a last minute special without doing to much research on the resort all the while hoping for the best. WOW we got the best! This resort may be in the process of getting refurbished but you would never know it. The food was great(which isn't always the case in Cuba), grounds looked great, rooms where clean but what makes this resort stand out from the others we've been to was the staff. Not just a few of them "All of them!!" I mean from the people at the front desk to the gardening crew and everyone in between. The sun the sand are what we go for but the service is what makes these vacations memorable and the Mojito definitely was a memorable vacation.

Iberostar started here not long ago with the main task to bring this resort to its best times. We do have realized that with the staff we have with us, we can make things work the best way ever. We will keep on doing our job so that we can hear a “wow” from all our guests.
You are the reason why we are here after all. We will keep on updating facilities without disturbing our client’s piece of mind. Our resort will look more beautiful as time passes by.

Just returned from Iberostar Mojito. We saw this hotel at its best as the El Senador and at its worse as NH Krystal. Hadn't been back for over 2 years so we decided to try it again as we knew Iberostar had taken over and Iberostar stands behind its name.

GM Santiago Ortiz has done a tremendous job turning this place around...he's everywhere and sees to the smooth operation of the resort...don't be surprised to see him at bingo, behind the counter checking on the food, or at the beach party cheering on the contestants. He is on a mission and he will be successful because he is very involved in all areas. With time, this hotel will surpass 4* rating without any doubt...there's still work to be done and the place is in good hands. BTW - he is easily approachable and open to suggestions.

The grounds are meticulously kept, the rooms are impeccable - cleaned daily and linen changed regularly. Everything works properly - AC, lots of hot water, toilets work well, fridge is restocked with bottled water and pop as needed, beds are comfortable. The staff is very friendly - always greeting you with a smile....amazingly so after the situation with NH. Reception folks are always ready to please. The animation team puts a lot of energy into entertaining the guests day and night. The night shows are splendid... especially Chicago....these people can play Broadway anytime!

There is a big improvement in the quality of food and selection...never seen so many kind of desserts in Cuba. The chefs at the grill (hello to Nalla and them all) are doing a super job at preventing long lines. The pools are immaculately cleaned each day - Alex sees to it when he's not "trekking" around the deck to provide refreshments to the guests. The beach is cleaned every morning thanks to the laborious team up at the crack of dawn ensuring all debris brought in by the sea are removed before the early birds arrive for the day. The 'beach boys'' Jorge, Ariel and Mario will ensure a pleasant day at the beach, preparing chairs for the guests. Cayo Coco Beach, with kilometers of white, soft powdery sand, is by far the best in Cuba, I dare say in the Carribeans.

We are very pleased that we decided to return to this hotel. As a repeat customer, we were treated royally with many perks. Everyone was so welcoming - it felt like returning home. We have made many friends over the years and they are part of our family...Wilbur, Freddy, Jorge, Ariel, Dulce, Marielys, Alexei, Ana, Adrian, Liz, Noel, Yaimara, Yamila - there are too many to mention them all. It was also nice to see some of the employees return just before our departure after several months away - we had missed them and were pleased to see them again.

The Emperador side is supposed to open next year under Iberostar Cayo Coco - can't wait to return there too. Mr. Ortiz, congratulations in reviving this beautiful resort and good luck in achieving your goals...we know you’ll succeed - and we know we’ll be back.

Dear Guest,
We really thank you for having chosen our resort to spend your holidays and we appreciate that you have taken part of your precious time to write a review about your experience with us.

We see that many of our repeated guests are returning to the resort and that compromises us to make it better all the time. At the end a resort or a business can keep open if clients keep on buying our services.
Iberostar started here not long ago and we know we still have a long way to go, but we are not afraid because as you have mentioned in your review, we have a first class team.

Spent a wonderful week back at the Mojito. Noticed some changes, Iberostar is working hard to update. The evening shows were wonderful and lively. I found that the buffet choices had improved since my last visit, last year. More choices, tasty combos. Rooms were very clean and thank you for water on a daily basis. The staff is awesome, very eager to please and accommodate. Thanking Ariel in PR, he is wonderful and always makes me and my brother feel like family. Thank you Daisy, great to see you again. Many thanks to all of the many wonderful staff that we met, especially Alex at the pool, Tamara, Luis, at the bar. Yamil our a la carte waiter, Felix, how did you get your car in the lobby!!!!and many others. As this is my 5th time to this resort, I can only say that it has steadily improved to one of the best. The staff surely make it so. Oh, and the pools and beach are fantastic.

Just arrived home on Tuesday February 5th from Iberostar Mojito!! We highly recommend this resort to anyone that likes a place to unwind, relax or party in the sun. It is beautiful. With the soft white sand and crystal clear water you can't go wrong!

As a group, we have been to Cuba many times and we all agreed that the Mojito has been the best one yet. If you go by the star rating system we thought the Mojito should have a higher rating when compared to the other resorts that we have visited with higher ratings. The resort is very clean and the staff work very hard to keep it this way . The rooms are spotless and have new pillows and curtains.

This was the first time that we thoroughly enjoyed the food in Cuba, the buffet always had something different to choose from so there was always something new to try each day. The snack bar was great and had a variety of pizzas and grilled sandwiches to choose from and the fries were like what we are used to at home. There were two a-la-cartes available for us to choose from, the "Gourmet" and the "Italian". We thought the Italian had room for improvements but we agreed that the Gourmet was fantastic.

The only 'complaint' that we could come up with was that the drinking water in the room should be replenished on a daily basis instead of every other day and it would be nice if there were a couple of beer in the fridge for a night cap.

The staff at the Mojito are awesome and seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs. We got to know a few of them and we would like to say thanks to them for making this the best vacation that we ever had!! So a big cheers to Axel and Diana at the swim up bar and Alex for keeping the pool so clean, ARIEL at the lobby bar, Alain at la Sirena, Josvel (our waiter) at the a-la-cartes, Jose Louis at the beach bar, and our maids Yuly, and Yolanda

"the Family"

Wishing we were still there!

We were at the Iberostar Mojito in January and thoroughly enjoyed it. There were less than 100 people there when we arrived, however, this quickly changed and with it, the a la carte restaurants opened and choices at the buffet got better. Not that is was bad before, just that there were more choices when there were more people. (makes sense!)
Our room was wonderful. The bed was comfortable with 4 nice fluffy pillows. Bedspread a bit dated but they can't upgrade everything at once. Our room did not have a balcony but big windows that open so not a problem. Room was clean and roomy with a small fridge. They provided water and two kinds of soda. I got my water bottle filled up one day at the lobby bar, however, soon figured out that this was not necessary our mail (Tamara) replaced the bottle anyway.
I am an early riser so would go down to the lobby to read. Only had to order a cappuccino once and then it magically appeared. Great waiters..wish I remembered their names! (Sorry)
The evening shows were some of the best we have ever seen in D.R., Cuba, Mexico, Bahamas. The entertainment staff worked hard and it showed.
There were three a la carte restaurants and we liked the international best. We had an awesome meal of a smoked salmon appetizer, lobster cream soup, and roast pork with baked potato. It was delicious!!
Because it was windy while we were there, we spent more time at the pools than normal. We had great service from Alex at both pools. He spent a lot of time walking back and forth between the pools bringing drinks. Nice guy.
We especially enjoyed the cigar bar. Freddy is the bartender there and can throw bottles and glasses around like the best of them. He is a friendly guy with lots of info and makes awesome drinks. We would have liked to have gone there after the evening show, however, it turns into the disco. They have a disco, however, for some reason don't use it?!?
My only complaint is that many of the rooms have no balconies..During the day, with the windows open it was like sitting outside, however, because I rise early, I like to go out on the balcony to read...not a big problem, but is why I only rated the room 4.

We really thank you for having chosen our resort to spend your holidays and we appreciate that you have taken part of your precious time to write a review about your experience with us.

Yes, we reopened this hotel as Iberostar only a few weeks ago and little by little we have been working on details to make our facilities more comfortable for our guests.

Our staff keeps on being our main asset and their effort and professionalism make people want to come back. We have a beautiful beach, nice restaurants and nice bars but they look even nicer when theyoffer a great service. We need to think of something to work at the original disco to prevent noise from disturbing closer buildings. At the Cigar Lounge the noise is further away from main room’s area.

Once again, we thank you for your considerations and are looking forward to seeing you sometime in the near future to share and enjoy with the Iberostar Mojito’s team. We will not spare efforts to make your next visit always better than your previous one.
