Poorly managed. We arrived at 7:30 on a Sunday evening. There were a grand total of two cars in the lot and two tables being served in the entire restaurant. The chef himself came out and chased us off, saying that he was there alone (?) and that they ONLY worked by reservation so we had to leave. He then took a phone call and turned his back on us. We left immediately -- and don't plan to try again. Who runs an entire restaurant with one person??? There were so few people dining, it practically looked abandoned -- and we got chased away? It's amazing they're still in business. We won't be back.

Definitely get the table d'hote (fixed price) meal. They had a choice of 3 price points. We chose the mid-range...wonderful quality, great service. I had duck confit (the duck previously lived 2 doors down) So fresh and delicious. Very pleased.

Will give it a thumb's up.... Especially the Fois Gras Creme Brulee and the Smoked Duck! Flavours were well blended and everything was just right. The Creme Cauliflower soup was also really well done. The Salmon Seafood platter was so so and the maple Tart for dessert could have been better. (We think Aux Ancient Canadiens Maple Pie was delicious!)

Other attention to other detail like spacing out guests was greatly welcomed. (as opposed to most restaurants who want to hudle guests together for ease of service)

What a great experience! My boyfriend and I went for a romantic dinner at Le Canard Huppé and we were very pleased with this restaurant. We both had the Table d'hôte (4 course meal), and I strongly recommended it (I saw the plates served À la carte, and they definitly don't look as good, as they are served with fries and salad). But the Table d'hôte won't disapoint you! I had the magret de canard, my boyfriend had the entrecôte, both meals were perfectly cook and delicious. The appetizers (and a special mention to the fois gras crème brûlée) were stunning, the soup was good, and the desserts were amazing. The apéritifs are all products from l'Ile d'Orléans, and the chef uses a lot of fresh local products in the meals. Service was good, as two out of three waitresses were really nice, and the other one was correct. They were attentive, and they made good recommendation about the wine list. One of my best gastronomic experience!

I have been to the island many times and I was quite delighted to experience the food at Le Canard Huppé. It was by far the best food we have had on the island and probably within the Quebec city region. The attention to details and the pairing of flavors were simply impeccable. The foie gras crème brûlée was heavenly; the confit de canard was tender, moist and not too salty. Their specialty was definitely the duck dishes, but their seafood was also excellent. The salmon was perfectly cooked (meaning it was not overcooked). Everything we put in our mouth was a wonder. We are not big drinkers, so we ordered the only white and red wines available by the glass. The white was from the Sainte-Pétronille vineyard on the island. The red was from Portugal. Both were very decent house wine and went very well with the food. The price was also very reasonable, especially if you choose to stay at the auberge and take advantage of the hotel guest price.

Even with a big group of over 30 people that evening, we had a wonderful and quiet dinner because a separate section of the dining area was reserved for smaller groups like us. There were two waitresses serving us. They were courteous, knowledgeable and spoke very good English.

Breakfast at Le Canard Huppé was simply a continuation of the heavenly goodness.
