“A Must Visit”
Reviewed June 28, 2014

I visited The Black Spruce with family and friends and we were not disappointed! Not only is the location beautiful but the service and food made for a wonderful experience. The staff were friendly and funny and made us feel very welcome. The lobster timbale appetizer was fantastic and the "market fish" beautifully done and delicious. This restaurant is a hidden treasure in Gros Morne National Park and we will definitely be back!

Thank you so much for your review! I'm so happy that you had such a good experience at our restaurant. Our market fish a popular dish as it is fresh daily from our local fish market and a wonderful sampling of fresh Newfoundland seafood. Thank you for dining with us!

“Great restaurant”
Reviewed December 19, 2013

We did not stay overnight at the Inn, but stumbled across it when touring the area while staying in cottages in Rocky Harbour. We were looking for a different place to eat dinner, and just had to try the restaurant. We were not disappointed. The prices were in keeping with the better restaurants in the larger cities, but the quality of the food and service totally warranted the pricing. As we didn't have a reservation, it took half an hour or so to get a table, and, in the meantime, the receptionist (maybe owner - not sure) invited us to enjoy the spectacular sunroom, overlooking the scenic bay or arm of Bonne Bay. If the rest of the facility is anything like what we saw, it would surely be a treat to stay there sometime.

Thank you for your review. I am so happy that you did stumble across us...we are kind of tucked away and therefore not always found easily. Waiting for a table isn't such a hardship when sitting in our beautiful Sunroom is it? I'm so glad you enjoyed your experience, thank you for dining with us.

“Amazing views, good food”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

We stayed at Neddies Harbour Inn and had dinner there one evening. The location is spectacular, the people working in the restaurant and inn were very pleasant and helpful. The mean was good but I would not say it was gourmet. Serving sizes were perfect. The meal was expensive, but most restaurants in Newfoundland (both coasts) seem to be expensive. Neddies Harbour is worth visiting.

“Lovely location but ......”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

This inn is very well appointed, the setting is awe-inspiring and the staff friendly but we found the food in the restaurant too expensive for what was provided. We are not penny-pinchers. We are perfectly willing to pay for quality, but not presentation alone. Though the meal was quite palatable and tasty, it was not worth the price. Those were Scandinavian prices in a place called Neddies Harbour. Incidentally, we loved our entire journey to Newfoundland, quaint names and all.

Thank you for your review. I'm happy to read that you enjoyed our place however I am sorry you felt our restaurant prices were high. We are actually quite comparable with other restaurants in the area and certainly not priced on a Scandinavian scale as we strive to be as local as possible in all ways. Thank you for dining with us.

“A Long Time Favourite!”
Reviewed September 19, 2013 via mobile

This was not our first dinner here. Since the opening, Doug & I make a point of dining here whenever we're in town. The service, atmosphere and food are always excellent - they never disappoint! It always makes for such a great evening. For our most recent dinner we all had the beef tenderloin. It was cooked just right and was seasoned perfectly - very flavourful! With shared mussels for the appetizer - which were great - we had room for dessert. So glad we did! The white chocolate cheesecake and creme caramel made for a perfect ending!
Thanks to everyone here for providing such a wonderful place to dine - I'm looking forward to our next dinner before the season ends!
