This restaurant was highly recommended, and we did enjoy the people and the location right on the bay. Service was friendly but not fast, which wasn't really a problem for us that evening. Food was okay, not unusual, not outstanding. But we don't go to Newfoundland for the food, really. We would go back if in the area, but with realistic expectations.

Well located restaurant with picture windows on the waterfront! Our waitress (too young to serve alcohol) was friendly and efficient. The scallops were excellent. We enjoyed our lunch very much.

Excellent fish!!! Make reservations to eat upstairs by the window. Desserts are great too--all kinds of local berries. Try one of the local specialties.
We had herring and enjoyed it.

My husband and I are from Toronto and have vacationed in Gros Morne for the last 3 years. We arrived at the Seaside Restaurant at 3pm last summer and decided that we would stop by for an appetizer and drinks on the patio. We had read the reviews and were looking forward to heading back later for dinner. We ordered and the server left to check with her manager?. She returned to tell us that we had to order an entree or we couldn't stay. There were only 2 other ppl there at that time, not busy at all. Needless to say we didn't go back and had an amazing dinner at the Old Loft in Woody Point.

We had lunch here and it was recommended to us. After doing the Tablelands walk, we journeyed to Trout River to find this restaurant. Adjacent home owners selling homemade mitts, socks on clotheslines' on the street adds to the charm. We had mussels which were terrific and Mom's chowder. My husband also had the Fish burger which was pan fried and not deep fried - a welcome change. Would highly recommend.
