“Amazing Geological phenomena”
Reviewed June 12, 2013

This is spectacular -- eerie & strange. Feels like the desert in the middle of the tundra. A must-see for budding geologists or anyone interested in nature. Hike was good, not too taxing, well laid out and managed. Don't drink the spring water coming down from the runoff. It looks good, tastes delicious, but will contain heavy metals from the unique composition of the Tablelands.

“Very odd geography”
Reviewed June 1, 2013

The Tablelands is an ancient sea bed that was lifted to the surface when the earths plates collided. The rock is orange because of the high iron content and very little vegetation grows on it. It looks like the surface of Mars. The other side of the highway is green so it is an interesting landscape. It is worth checking out but you can see pretty much everything from the highway.

“Nice little hike”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

There is to see interesting geology on this trail. Exciting. This is an easy short hike, nice but not special except the geology.

This area is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. We love to hike in this area. There is so much to see there.

“Amazing!”
Reviewed February 7, 2013

Spending time at the tablelands is like spending time on another planet. It's absolutely incredible! Be sure to read all the information boards. The history is absolutely fascinating. You can take a leisurely walk along the base of the mountain or you can head for the top. The hike to the top is hard because there is nothing but orange rock to help you judge distance. It really feels like you are hiking forever and getting nowhere and then all of a sudden you are at the top! Sliding on the snow was a great reward once you reached the summit. On the hike down the mountain we stopped at a waterfall for a quick dip and a rinse after a long sweaty day of hiking. Truly an awe inspiring experience.
