“Nice to do”
Review of Western Brook Pond

We travelled a lot in Norway so we have seen a lot of these kind of "Fjords". Western Brook Pond is changed in a Pond after the losing connection with sea. The 45 minutes walk is easy to do and is a nice walk. The boattrip was nice but not so spectaculair as we hoped (no birds and no wildlife on shore). When you haven't see this kind of Ponds you must surely do this trip. But when you have seen Norway's Geiranger fjord and you have a little time, plan an other trip in Gros Morne.

A very rare Ultra Oligotrophic body of body with breath taking cliffs, hanging valleys and waterfalls. It is a 45 minute scenic walk to the boat from the parking lot along a well maintained trail on bog land. The boat ride takes us deep towards the mountains allowing us to take a closer look at the rock formation. Weather was perfect with cool winds blowing throughout the relaxing ride. Though expensive, at $60/person, it was worth the price.

We booked our tour before we even left home so we knew this was a must to do. It was nice and sunny but not too hot a day and the boat ride was perfect. We did have about a 45 minute walk to get to the boat location. Just as we got on the boat we saw mama and baby moose coming down for a drink of water. That set the scene and we knew it was going to be good and we were right. The rock formations are fantastic and there are three waterfalls with the last one being the largest. At the time we were there you could see the spray as well as the water flowing. We had very informative guides who explained the rock formations and pointed out some of the little things and quirks. It was 60.00 but I thought it was well spent.

An easy hike to the boat, with informative signs on the way. Gorgeous day, the scenery from the boat was wonderful and made better by the knowledgeable guides and their humour. Although expensive it was well worth the price.
