“Great food! Great Ambiance!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2013

Visited the Easter Shore over Spring break back in March and was recommended Mallards at the Wharf! I am glad we stopped. My friend got the duck and I got the encrusted salmon. The portions were reasonable. Johnny Mo (the chef) came to the table himself to ask if we were enjoying it! We had a seat in the corner by the window overlooking the inlet and were seated just as the sun was setting over the water! Amazing view! This was better than any dinner cruise I've ever been on! The ambiance was very romantic. This restaurant is set in a historic general store. Looking forward to going back!

“Best Crabcake Ever!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 28, 2013

We ate at Mallards recently and I ordered a crabcake, which claimed to have no fillers and held together with love. It was without question the best crabcake that I had while spending a few days in the area. We were there for lunch, and had to look around to find someone to seat us! Finally found the owner? manager? whoever! He seated us, but wasn't particularly friendly! He wasn't UNfriendly, but lacked the enthusiasm that we had found in other area restaurants.

“Good Food and Drinks”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2013 via mobile

Stopped in for drinks and dinner while traveling. Shared a delicious bottle of local wine from Chatham Vineyards with our friends. I ordered the pasta special which included crab and artichokes with Alfredo sauce. Very very tasty. My friend had the horseradish crusted salmon. She loved it. Hubby ordered twin tunas.

The Chef came out of the kitchen and spent time at each table checking on his guests. Later that evening he took his guitar off the wall and started singing and playing some familiar songs and some original songs. He even made songs up on the spot about people in the restaurant. He is very talented in and out of the kitchen.

A nice experience with good friends and good food.

“Chilly day, warm welcome.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2013 via mobile

We were welcomed warmly by the owner/ chef as we walked in after a very chilly march day. We warmed quickly by the window over looking a small harbor and a world class sunset. We came for a couple of drinks but after the flatbread smothered with chunks of crab and mixed cheeses, we decide to stay for the evening.
Again, Johnny Mo, as he's called, was very attentive, the order was prepared in a timely manner, and the dinner was perfect.
Johnny said that there were no fillers in his crab cakes, and he wasn't kidding! My wife had the crab cakes and I had the Chicken Oscar. If we venture this way again, we'll stop by again, hopefully it will be in warmer weather and we can dine out on the warf.

“Excellent Waterfront Restaurant and the Owner Sings for you!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2013

This is a must stop when traveling the Atlantic Coast. Located right on the water in a quiant little town called Onancock ( say "O-NAN-COCK" to sound like a local ) this is the spot you want to go to. The food is fabulous, with an excellent mix of fresh seafood, tender steaks, chicken, pasta and super appetizers. The night we visited, the the Chef/Owner, "Johnny Mo" was playing his guitar in the dining room. "Dinnertainment" is what he called it, and it was a great mix of cover songs and his own original music, much of it about the Eastern Shore of Virginia, which is what the area is known as. He was friendly and so was the staff, with service that was prompt and curtious but not intrusive. We went there in late winter, but the outside deck and Tiki-ar looked like the place to be during nice weather. We will be back for that when it gets warmer. Looking forward to our next trip that way.
