I stayed here for 9 nights whilst on a diving expedition to Tiree and its surrounding waters. 7 of us stayed here but the place never felt cramped. The rooms are clean, and all fitted with an ensuite, except for the double room I stayed in, which has it's own large private bathroom. The beds are comfortable, every room has satellite TV, and the kitchen is very modern - beware of boiling milk on the induction hob!! There's a comfortable dining room with wi-fi access at one end of the property and a cosy living room at the other end with an ample supply of books and DVDs to keep you entertained if you don't make it outdoors - the magazine on Curtains and Drapes was priceless! Both of these rooms have log / coal burners (recommend you buy some fire lighters unless your name is Duncan or Ray Mears!). The rest of the rooms benefit from central heating. The place was nice and warm despite the weather not being particularly good for the time of year. Also the windows seemed to be particularly effective on blocking out any outside noise (which in this place would only come from wind and rain or the occasional over zealous cow). The place was immacultey clean throughout on arrival and we attempted to leave it as much as we found it when we left.

For divers or other water sport enthusiasts the house is kitted out perfectly. Extremely sturdy hanging racks and hooks for dry suits and BCDs, both in the shed and garden, a rain supplied water tank for rinsing your gear and a reliable (mostly) and very loud compressor for filling cylinders. And thankfully, after the long days we had every day, it is all on one floor so flopping into bed without a trek up stairs was a bonus!

We ate 2 nights in the restaurant which adjoins the house. The menu had a good selection, the food was great and the service was spot on. If requests are made before arriving you can even pre-order kegs of Fyne ale to ensure you are kept in beer for your stay and they weill be delivered to the house in 2 pint pitchers.

Duncan and Polly were excellent hosts both in terms of our stay at the house, always on hand to assist, and in the quality of service in the restaurant. I would not hesitate to recommend the Ceabhar Guesthouse and Restaurant for anyone wishing to stay on Tiree.

Room Tip: 1 twin room has a separate bathroom Rooms at the back of the house face the sea

We stayed on Tiree for two nights at Rockvale Guest House (reviewed separately) and dined on both evenings at Ceabhar Restaurant at Sandaig, on the west side of the island, and about 15 minutes drive from Rockvale. Restaurants are not in great profusion on the island, and Ceabhar rightly claims to be one of the best.
Parking on the machair outside, we were very well received by mine host, Duncan, whilst his wife, Polly, practises her splendid cooking skills in the kitchen. The menu on both evenings was the same, but was fairly extensive and provided a more than adequate choice for the three of us, and we were all well satisfied by the food, which made good use of local produce.
We didn't really explore the wine list much, but preferred instead to sample the extensive range of Fyne ales available, and highly recommended by Duncan.
The overall cost for dinner was OK, and we are very pleased to recommend this restaurant to other visitors to the beautiful island of Tiree.

Stayed at the house with a group of friends. We were competing in the Half Marathon/10K race and it was a great place to chill. Duncan and Polly made us feel very welcome and were extremely helpful and friendly. Recommend staying there.

"A group of us were on Tiree for the half marathon/10k from Lochaber Jog Scotland. The house was a haven on a beautiful island. Duncan and Polly made us feel so welcome and it was a fab place to base ourselves. We were directed to amazing walks and hidden beaches and didn't want for anything. I would thoroughly recommend this place for a fantastic holiday on Tiree. 4 of us used the restaurant too and the meal and service is recommended too."

This is a late review but I felt that it's still worth a mention. We were visiting as part of a group of kitesurfers and stopped by here for an evening meal on our last night on Tiree. The main meal was delicious and the deserts something special. A lovely evening with friendly, welcoming staff.

The knowledge of the owners about good kitesurfing spots was useful too!
