This is like something out of a movie! A great place, we sat outside and watched the world go by (not a lot of world thank goodness). Great service, great wine, nice food, if a little on the small side portionwize... and as others have said, not cheap. We took two ferries to get there for the day, so possibly adds up to one of those VERY expensive days out. Never mind great fun and will be back. The location is just out of this world (assuming you have the weather Gods on your side). You can leave your car on the mainland and rent a bike (or hire a kayak) on the island at the Ferry Terminus. There is also a very, very amazing 9 hole golf course, with views to rival Pebble Beach !!! except it's about one per cent of the cost for a round of golf!

“Warm welcome”
Reviewed October 4, 2013

I stopped into the Boathouse mid afternoon on a Sunday in September, I only wanted to have a drink. Even although they were very busy with restaurant customers, I was given the best of service to choose a glass of wine and a lovely terrace with views to sit and enjoy it. Fabulous location, I will eat next time! Thanks.

“Perfect place for lunch”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

Took the ferry across to the island and walked round to the Boathouse the other side of the bay. A local even stopped to offer us a lift but we enjoyed the walk in beautiful weather. Our lunch was excellent. Prawn tails and calamari for starters and Roast rib of beef and scallops with bacon and orange. Very friendly atmosphere and relaxing. It was well worth the trip and the prices reflect the quality of the food.

“excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

Loved it. I have eaten here before and have to say that they chef, Gordon deserves a round of applause. He clearly takes great pride in his work. I will be visiting again. To those who have reviewed and comment that its expensive you really need to reflect on what u are saying. Excellent food and service. It's not Mcdonalds. Furthermore, Gigha is a very small island which due to the population, its remote location and tourism - which is not year round - the owners won't be able to charge peanuts. They need to make a living and to pay staff their wages.

“Tasty but pricy!!”
Reviewed September 22, 2013

A wee afternoon trip over on the boat with the kids. Lovely food but more than we'd like to spend when out with the 3 kids. Not really any other place to go so we had no choice. Enjoyed the steak baguette with fries and I'd recommend the place to anyone but warn about the steep prices!!
