Not much choice as we had elected not to go for Christmas menu as was my husbands birthday. Some meals came with virtually no veg. But my duck was good. Won't be rushing back.

Been many times to this restaurant & bar - for meals, snacks etc - with colleagues, family, & friends. Always a friendly welcome and good service, with good food too.

Living within walking distance, I have been to this pub many times over the years and quite a lot recently with family and friends, rarely am I disappointed and I recommend it. Great during the summer with kids as there is a large garden with playground and they open a small "kiosk" in the garden where you can order food without going into the bar. Burgers always excellent.

Last visit was for the Christmas menu with a large group of friends and at £19.95 for 3 courses was great value. NOTE: You need to pre-order and pay a deposit for the Christmas menu - look on their website. Its worth the effort if booking in advance, and they organised it very well for us. Food was hot, tasty and plenty of it. Service was excellent, and the waitress checked with us several times that all was OK, and even asked how long we would like to wait for dessert. We were all stuffed from the 1st 2 courses, so a delay was welcome!

Real ales always good here.

On the negative side, I have to agree with other reviewers that the sunday carvery could sometimes be better. OK if you get there midday, but later in the afternoon I have been there and seen the veg and meat sitting drying up for long periods when nobody is ordering it. We just ordered from the normal menu on that occasion as we did not like the look of the carvery on offer. Normal menu is good, basic, typical pub food.

Does get very busy, so worth booking a table if you are planning to eat.

Nice pub, lovely playground for the kids and nice staff.
The food is a letdown. The steaks in the burgers were overcooked. The chips were mushy, the gnocchis lack seasoning and did not look like gnocchis.
It's a shame because it would be a prefect place otherwise!
