“Clean, comfortable Hotel.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2008

My first stay at a Premier Inn went well. The hotel was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The rooms were of a very good size and so was the bathroom which was also very clean and of a good standard.
The receptionists were not as friendly as the ones on the Tv advert, but we were only staying for one night so this was not too much of a problem.
The only negative thing was the noisy road outside and the single glazing window that did not block it out. If you are considering staying here, ask for a room away from the main road and you should sleep soundly.
The attached restaurant was very good and the staff were exceptional. Good value for money too.

I regularly use this hotel as a base for work I do on the railways in East London as it is very easy to get everywhere due to the proximity of Romford Station and the frequency of the trains. I personally think Central London hotels are a rip off and I need my car to travel down there anyway, so its nice to know I can leave my car at the hotel , pop onto the train and if I need to, be in the Centre of London in 20minutes.

I think for tourists on a budget, this is an ideal place for a short London break. Romford is not the nicest of places but it has everything you need.

The hotel is generally clean and tidy and the breakfasts are good (theres plenty of other places nearby if you think £7.50/person is steep). I think the current summer rate of £87 is rather high for what it is - but when you factor in a few days travel cards for London (7.00/day off peak), plus the fact you have free parking - make sure you get your permit from the hotel!!!), then your still under a £150 quid budget for a dated hotel on the Strand!!!

My only other gripe is that the rooms overlooking the road can be very noisy, especially on a warm evening when you need the window open, the back rooms are better...

  • Liked — Cost effective way of staying in London...
  • Disliked — Sound Insulation poor on front and peak rates are high for Premier Travel Inn

Great bed. Friendly staff. Woke to the sound of birdsong rather than traffic which was a surprise. Penny-pinching soap and gel dispensers in the bath room. Excellent breakfast spread, but then a poor cooked breakfast. Bacon like leather and 6 out of ten for the fried egg. Worse, the coffee was like liquid brown bread. When the waiter heard this, he did return sharpish with a large mug of the highest-octane caffein I have ever slurped, so we got there in the end

This is a nice simple hotel. Rooms are large, clean and comfortable. The attached the pub (Liberty Bell) sells good food, though expensive. Same applies to the beer!

The centre of Romford is a 2 minute walk away across the road, that has a variety of bars, fast food, restuarants and clubs.

  • Liked — Clean rooms, close to shops (Huge Asda next to it)
  • Disliked — Expensive for basic room

Construction taking place onsite, therefore slightly noisey, and exterior landscape was messy, slight bit a of trash upon arrival to walk-up to reception, we walked over a plastic bag and trash on steps for a day before we finally picked it up and tossed it in the bin. Quick journey by foot to Romford Station, only 1/2 mile. No frills, room was decent, shower curtain was in need of a wash, bath floor not clean, all in all okay for 60 Pounds a night.
