My husband and I stayed here last night as our daughter was at a sleepover locally. We knew there was a restaurant at the hotel and weren't up for a 'big night out'. Gary had steak and I had Seafood risotto. What fantastic food. Gary's steak was cooked to perfection with a decent 'gravy boat' or peppercorn sauce and a separate dish of veg. Every mouthful of my huge dish of risotto had seafood in it from small to king prawns, mussels, squid. Absolutely cracking food, good service and decent prices too. Our room although not in the same building as the restaurant, was a lovely size with a huge flat screen TV. They had considered my request for plenty of room round the bed as my husband was on crutches and we were on the ground floor too which made it easier. The room was nice and quiet away from the main road, and apart from the fire alarm going off by accident we had a good nights sleep. Luckily we were still watching TV when the alarm went off.
All in all a great room with great food.

We had our wedding reception at Harefield Manor earlier this month (June 2014) and we were so glad we did. We chose Harefield Manor as they were able to offer an all inclusive package where we paid one price and they took care of so many aspects. The price was very competitive compared to other venues we had considered and certainly wasn’t the sky-high amounts that some venues demanded as soon as they heard the word “wedding”. By choosing an all inclusive package, it meant we had less organising to do so we could just enjoy the build up and the day. The package included setting up the room in our chosen colour scheme (table cloths, sashes etc), the toastmaster, three course wedding breakfast/meal, buffet for the evening guests, DJ/disco, our room that night, breakfast etc.

On the day we were personally met by the manager and from that point onwards we were looked after brilliantly and made to feel really special. We were kept fully informed about what was happening at each stage, this was done in a subtle, however reassuring way that just meant we could relax. After chatting with our guests (100 plus 20 in the evening), we conducted a mock cake cutting so the photographer could get perfect shots in private, then we formally greeted our guests as they arrived into the suite. The suite was beautifully presented and was everything we expected and more. The food served was superb, with our guests being given (unusually) a choice for each course; children were also more than catered for with their own special menu and very generous portions that kept them very happy. The staff were friendly and professional throughout, they really seemed to care about giving us and our guests a special day to remember. The buffet for our evening guests was plentiful and the DJ supplied for the evening (from a local radio station) was brilliant and kept the dance floor filled until 1am!

We have very fond memories of the day and would recommend Harefield Manor for any couple who is looking for a great wedding venue at a competitive price with staff who genuinely care about making the day special.

My room is filthy, stained and dated. I even have bites from the bedding.
There is no hot water and a shower cubicle that doesn't close.
No food option on a Sunday evening and no room service.
No service - every question the answer is no.
Would never stay here again, a car would be more comfortable.

We stayed here for a wedding elsewhere nr Romford. We booked via a hotel site online about 6 wks ago but when we rang to confirm about checking in time they hadn't even received our booking from the third party site (although the cash had gone)- however they had a spare room, they said this was happening alot and poeple were turning up expecting a room only to be fully booked - check your booking!
There are two buildings for this hotel - the nice one you see on the picture for this and another newer building across the road with parking to the rear, we stayed in this building. The room was small, old fashioned patterned carpet BUT it was clean and so was the toilet and shower. The bed matress felt old and lumpy - I didn't fancy peeling back the sheets to confirm this. We arrived at 3pm, had a quick shower, there was no hot water :-(. We had a shower again at 7am the nxt morning and after running the shower for about 10 mins it started to get hot....Also of a hgot nature was the 'cold' tap in our bathroom, which was nice drinking luke warm palid water - top tip take some water bottles with you. The room was incredibly noisy - there was a wedding reception on at the 'main' hotel over the road, it sounded like a banging do. And so was my head. Also doors were banging at all hours of the night along the corridor so we got minimal sleep. I had a migraine so in the end my migraine tablets knocked me out! The staff were very friendly though, and arranged a taxi for us late minute, they were polite & cheerful which is nice. Overall, it was an ok place to lay your head for the night, and take some migraine tablets with you if you want a good kip.

Just returned from a 2 night stay with two other females. The family room we had was huge and the main bed the biggest I have ever seen in a hotel. Lots of storage space and a lovely modern bathroom. Stayed across the road which seemed strange at first as we were not aware the accommodation was not on site but it turned out to be great. A nice central place, town centre a few minutes walk away but buses very reliable to Brentwood (TOWIE land) Breakfast was excellent and lots of it, freshly cooked produce served efficiently, thank you Suzie. We will definitely use this place again if we are in the area.

Room Tip: Rooms across the road were excellent

I have been working in Romford for several months now, and until a fortnight ago I always stayed in Premier Inn (which is great, honestly) but prices climbed a little too much to over £100 per night, so I looked for an alternative and found Harefield.

A really nice hotel, with a high quality feel and a low price tag.

Good points:
Huge bathtubs.
Plenty of high pressure, hot water.
Quality furnishings.
Decent sized rooms.
Nice and quiet.
Free parking.
Nice restaurant with plenty of choice and a good value, high quality set menu that changes every 10 days.
Free, fast wifi in most rooms.
Housekeeping are great - spotless rooms.
Friendly reception team.

Bad points:
All the double rooms I have stayed in are pushed together single beds - not great when you are a lone traveler and want to sleep in the middle!
The heating is centrally controlled - you can't adjust your rooms temp.
No coat hangers in wardrobe - so a bit pointless.
Standard rooms are tiny - go executive or better (Only £5 more).
No glasses in room - only plastic cups.
Wifi signal is poor in some rooms.
You are given your TV remote at check in and charged £40 if you don't return it (wth?)
Hotel is currently in administration.

Overall a great hotel, positives far outweigh negatives for my purposes - solo business travel. It would also be a nice place for couples. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for the first or second floor in the annex, over the road or a first floor room in "the sta...

Stayed for one night as we attended a party at the Golf Club which was within walking distance. We were given a double room in the new building across the road. The room was large and clean. The negatives; the bed wasn't very comfortable and the room was very warm.
the staff was very friendly and the English breakfast was excellent.
Would stay again if in the area.
