“Still coming to a great hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 4, 2013

I have stayed at this hotel many times due its location to my place of work.
Good price for what you get, rooms are always clean and beds really comfortable.
Quite location with only the sheep to keep you awake (If you are in a field facing room)
Staff have always been very friendly but on this occasion the service levels had improved further with basic but essential customer service. (E.G smiles, basic conversation, bringing drinks over, remembering who I was)
I was even allocated a room near the spa/gym rather than away from it for ease of access.
I ate dinner in the bar and had the trusted Mecure Burger which is always good.
Only critisism I would make was the choice of healthy food (Although I contradict that with the choice of burger.)
All in all great hotel in a great location if you want away from it all a bit.

Room Tip: If you want easy access to the gym go further away from the reception. Field facing rooms can have t...

Stayed for a weekend spa break with 2 friends which we had booked online with Hotel and Spa breaks and had a lovely, relaxing couple of days. The staff were all really friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them.
We arrived early and were given the opportunity to relax in the Spa until our room was ready. We later enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea with sandwiches and cakes which was delivered to the spa cafe area for us. We all had our treatments, which we were very pleased with, and we then went back to relax and use the good spa facilities and great warm pool for another couple of hours.
In the evening we had an excellent 3 course dinner in the hotel restaurant which far exceeded our expectations.
Our room was simple but comfortable and was very warm.( would have preferred 3 single beds) It was a good size for the 3 of us and had a lovely bathroom with a bath and large separate shower cubicle.
Breakfast next morning was buffet style with a good selection of food with healthy and hot food options.
Yes there are areas of the hotel that could use a little spruce up but they did not detract from our enjoyment. We would like to suggest plastic/paper cups with the water fountain in the changing rooms and a water cooler/fountain in the downstairs spa area as this was very warm and you need to drink to stay hydrated in there.
Our experience at the hotel was very good and we received excellent value for money.
We will definitely return.

This hotel was amazing! Me and a group of 6 friends stayed in 3 twin rooms (which were amazing) and paid just £60 each for: bed and breakfast; £22 meal allowance and a 25 minute spa treatment.
The rooms were clean, but a bit hot! The mattresses were comfy and facilities excellent! Although there were a few maintenance problems; the shower knob fell off!
We made full use of the pool, gym and saunas! The thermal pool is brilliant, I could stay there all day! I had a fab Indian head massage from a lovely masseuse Becky.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone and we are already planning our next trip!

Room Tip: The rooms on the second floor seemed bigger and more modern than the rooms on the third floor and co...

I visted the hotel with my daughter. Our room was quite pleasant, not large but adequate
for our short stay. The welcome was adequate but not one of the cheeriest I have
experienced. The best feature of the hotel was definately the Spa, it was lovely and pleasantly hot, and large enough not to feel crowded when other guests entered. I did notice that in
the spa reception that the glass shelves needed a good dusting! Oops! The rest of the
hotel was clean and appeared well kept. The breakfast was good, plenty of choice, the usual annoying toasters! but at least the staff were all pleasant and helpful.

All in all it was a pleasant stay and the Spa was definately enjoyable.

Room Tip: Ask about rooms when making a booking, preferably not near a lift which can be noisy!

I stayed here whilst attending a course nearby. It's a comfortable hotel in a beautiful old building.
The staff were all happy, friendly and helpful, a credit to them.
The breakfast was lovely, dinner was also good but not much choice.
The rooms are comfortable but a bit tired & with things that need fixing here and there ( others reported the same in their rooms ). The choice of colour in the rooms is a bit depressing, a sort of olive green.
I'd stay again for business but not for pleasure.

Stayed one night at the Mercure Norton Grange, whilst attending a day seminar in Manchester over the weekend. We thought staying outside the city center would be nicer; better air, a nice spa and all the rest and we settled for this hotel as it wasn't too far from Manchester CC and had good reviews. However, we were disappointed. Even on arrival, although we were promised 'views' of countryside green etc, I couldn't imagine how this was possible as the hotel was sandwiched between the main road and their car park, beyond which there was a field of 'green'. On entering the hotel, it almost felt like we were walking into an elderly care home. The receptionist, although polite and helpful, proceeded to take a phone call even though we were waiting to be served. Check in was quick, but the room we got given was disappointing. It was supposedly on the 2nd floor (to which was could take the lift), but we had a further flight of stairs to climb before getting to our room. This felt like we were in an attic-conversion type room. The room itself was a good size, but much too warm. The windows barely opened and when they did, we had the constant hum of some sort of machinery placed on the roof space below us to entertain. The room and bathroom were spotless but water pressure of the shower was abysmal, not much better than a leaky tap.
We were also let down by the fact that we couldn't actually make use of the spa facilities, even though we had called ahead (on the day) to find out the timings, after we arrived, we were informed that the pool/gym closed earlier than we had been told on the phone.
Overall, not a bad hotel but not great either.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms on the "2/3rd floor" as these are only accessible by a short staircase and get...

This is the second time we have visited the property and we were given the same friendly welcome by Lauren on reception. Nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel extremely welcome. We had food at the hotel on this visit and this was excellent, even though it appeared we were eating in a temporary location. The SPA facilities were again excellent and we would not hesitate to return to the Hotel again.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. I will pass on my thanks to Lauren for providing such a warm welcome. This is exactly what we strive for. I am also glad that you enjoyed you meal in the restaurant. unfortunately the restaurant had been moved for the evening due to a function taking place in our usual restaurant but I am glad this did not hamper your experience.

We hope to see you again soon.
