“An Oasis in Rochdale”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2014

I was in Rochdale Jun28th for a family wedding, and by chance stumbled upon this wonderful hotel not far from the town centre. Rochdale itself isn't exactly picturesque but this former wool mill owners home is an oasis of ornate beauty, albeit added to in order to create more rooms and dining options. Room was clean and spacious, with all that you would expect from a modern hotel. Three restaurants to choose from all with great food. Definitely would go back if the need arises. A very enjoyable night and thank you to all the staff.

Room Tip: try to get a room in the old part if you are able to climb stairs.

just had another great time at the royal toby. for £99 (we stayed on saturday) you get a room which are nice, comfortable, well set out & clean. you also get a breakfast which is ok. you also have a choice or 3 restaurants to eat from the royal toby itself, the crimbles, & the fallen angel. all 3 are really excellent places to eat we have done all 3 and never been dissapointed. this time we picked the fallen angel the Italian restaurant. again we were not dissapointed good meal good surroundings ,nice romantic venue, the staff make you feel so welcome. you have a choice of any thing on the menu which makes it such great value. have been here a few times and im sure we will go a few times more. will recommend maybe as an anniversary treat or just a break from the routine to enjoy yourselves.

I stayed at the Royal Toby with my mum when we travelled up to Rochdale from London for a funeral in May. The staff at the hotel made the whole visit so much easier for us at that very sad time. They arranged for us to have our room earlier than usual and were nothing but friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. We'd like to give an extra special mention to the hotel receptionist Nina, who was exceptional at her job, very welcoming and approachable. The hotel was the perfect choice for our stay and we would definitely recommend it and book again.

Booked this hotel for a couple of nights whilst attending a wedding anniversary celebration in nearby Middleton. First point I would make is to book the hotel via www.thedeckersgroup.com so that you can get access to the sleep and dine offers, which are really good value....unfortunately we booked via www.booking.com, which doesn't show these offers. It is located very conveniently to the motorways, both the M62 and the M60 as well as Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale and the surrounding towns. There is plenty of free parking space available at the hotel, which looks to be reasonably secure. If you are staying over a weekend, it is advisable to book any evening meals in the restaurants prior to arrival, as it does seem to get pretty busy, especially at the most popular times.
The room we had was spacious, very tidy, well appointed with hair dryer, trouser press and tea / coffee facilities provided.....unfortunately it overlooked an internal courtyard with not much of a view, altho' it was nice and quiet. Room service is available with a varied and pretty attractive looking menu, altho' we actually ate in the main restaurant. Reception is manned day and night by very efficient and friendly staff, who were more than willing to provide directions, taxis and advice when requested.
We ate in the main restaurant where breakfast is buffet style fare with continental or full English breakfast available and very tasty too. On one evening we ate in the main restaurant, taking advantage of the special offer of two mains plus a bottle of wine for £19.99....food very palatable and wine very drinkable.....with a couple of starters and sweets it came to just over £30....good value indeed. There was a good a la carte menu also available, coupled with a pretty comprehensive wine list should you so desire. The dining room is very spacious with panelled walls and a spectacular rose motif in the ceiling...altogether a very nice experience. We never dined in the Fallen Angel restaurant, but glanced in and it looked very nice...think of a Mediterranean cellar / bistro type of place, very inviting.
The stay was made complete by staff in all areas of the hotel who were very friendly, helpful and efficient....well done to them all. We'll definitely stay again if we're ever back in the area....try it.

The Wooden Hut Club is a Society of friends connected with all aspects of the entertainment industry. Our President is Jimmy Cricket the popular Irish Comedian. We meet every five or six weeks for lunch and a get together at the Royal Toby in Rochdale. We gather in the very comfortable bar lounge and are then taken to our tables in the restaurant. There we enjoy top class service from the very friendly and capable staff. The choice and quality of the food is first class at a very reasonable cost.
We have used this venue for a number of years. Many of our members are household names and we all look forward to meeting up in the warm and welcoming ambience of this lovely Hotel.
