The small, intimate setting of La Marina is lovely. It is always busy and popular. The three of us had a lovely two course meal to celebrate birthdays. My starter was a little disappointing (half an oven baked avocado), but my main (veggie calzone and chips) was a lot better, tasty and a generous portion. I particularly enjoyed the Rose wine.
However, it was a struggle getting anyone’s attention to order food and drinks. It felt like we were an inconvenience! We asked to see the specials so the waiter/owner stomped off and dumped the board next to us. Not a word or explanation. We then had to wait another ten minutes to order. We ate our starters and mains, and when our plates were cleared we were asked if we would like desserts. We were full so we declined. We received a sour-faced expression and he walked off. Not asked if we wanted another drink or coffee or even our bill. We eventually paid but didn’t feel like tipping after the repeated rudeness and indifference to our presence. Such a shame as we love the food there, and we have been three times, but can’t stand the rude owners, which is so off-putting. They need a friendly front-of house staff to tend to customers.
