“last minute break”

My husband was working in the area and was booked into the kings croft for7 nights. I decided to go down for two nights and was very pleasantly surprised. The hotel is beautiful especially the grounds. Breakfast was excellent as was the room we were in which was actually set apart from the hotel itself and had a patio. The benidorm Beatles were on on the Sunday night and the show plus hog roast and various other main courses and a huge selection of desserts was only £17.5o. Will definitely return in the near future.

In the depths of Pontefract we found our hotel after an afternoon's racing at the course which is just 5 minutes away. Set in it's own grounds our friends and I checked in and were given the keycards to our rooms which we had booked at the same time, for the same price of £80 per night special offer deal, instead of £145 for an executive double room. Our friends duly opened the door to their room and were mightily impressed by the beautiful four poster bed and a bay window with views to die for. We proceeded to our room with great expectation only to discover that we had been put in a not-so-executive family room, something we had certainly not booked. We decided to return to reception to query this. The very helpful receptionist very quickly sorted us out and gave us the keycard to 'the best room that they had'. We were sceptical but duly followed her instructions as to how to find it (it was through a function room where a group of pensioners were setting up for some kind of slide show). What a surprise! The room looked like it had only recently been built, with open beams and a roll-top bath in the bedroom area. The open-plan modern wetroom was a real feature and we loved it, although if you have any modesty issues this would not be for you!! Our friends and I had booked a meal in the restaurant which was to the side of this old manor house, situated in a conservatory. Kieran was our waiter for the evening and was highly entertaining at the same time as being ultra professional. That lad will go far! He even persuaded the chef to make Eggs Benedict for our friends the following morning, something that is not on the breakfast menu. After a good night's sleep and a good breakfast we were ready to continue our journey home.

Room Tip: If you would prefer complete privacy in the bathroom do not book Room 16!

We used this hotel as a half way stop on our journey.
It was very reasonably priced so we weren't expecting it to be so nice.
Larger than expected , in a grand house, it had good grounds too.
Room was a great size with better TV than we have!
We had a lovely meal too , luckily staying on the specials night.
Staff were very friendly & efficient.

This is a nice hotel and this was our second visit. The hotel is always busy and very popular for weddings. The food us good and our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Unfortunately there were two weddings taking place which resulted in very loud thumping music until midnight right below our room both nights. I think if we booked again we would check to see if they had functions on and if so we would book elsewhere. !!

We held our wedding breakfast at the kings croft hotel on the 12th of April and we had THE most fabulous day. We had to make changes to numbers and meal choices at the last minute, and nothing was a problem. The food was fantastic, the gardens were beautiful and the staff were second to none. Our room to stay in on the evening was to die for. All in all, it was just the best day! So, great thanks to Shaun, claire, richard and a special thank you to the chef and back room staff, you all made our day perfect. Thank you.

This is not a bad hotel but it is a bit last century. The staff are friendly enough, there's ample parking, it's well priced and.. well that's as far as it goes.

The room I stayed in was huge but had some odd features; a roll top bath in the bedroom itself (fully functioning), the false ceiling was akin to office styling and the remote control was fixed to the bed via a wander lead. It was clean enough just very odd.

Went down to the restaurant for supper where the only internal access is via the function suites (apparently there had been an abundance of funeral receptions and senior birthday do's during the day) and they were being prepared for evening business use. The walls in the foyer are festooned with adverts for tribute acts whom clearly make regular weekend appearances to entertain the masses. Once the function rooms were in use you need to walk across the patio to get to the restaurant- not the end of the world but again a bit odd.

Nothing prepares you for the restaurant itself- it's best described as an inside out wedding cake. There are cream curtains and drapes all over the show with high backed dining chairs covered in what look like black tights- all designed to give a faux sophisticate look. It just needs black ash furniture but fear not- the tables are all topped with black frosted glass. Oh and it is in a sort of conservatory which needed an industrial fan heater to keep warm and the carpet hadn't been hoovered from when ever it was last done.

The menu was limited (prawn cocktail as a starter was a real throwback- had to try it for posterity), the portions huge but nothing of any real quality.

It will probably appeal to many and it's not a bad place, just not of this century.

Stayed 3 nights with my daughters wedding on the Saturday in the Kings Suite. 11 of us had a meal in the restaurant on the Friday which was magnificent.

Quality of food for wedding breakfast superb for 70 people. Sean and all the staff attentive and extremely helpful. For wedding, meal out or a longer stay would thoroughly recommend. All guest rooms of high standard with 11 of our party staying minimum of 2 nights.
