Description: The Clink Restaurant at HMP Styal opened to the general public in April 2015 and offers women prisoners full-time work within a true-to-life restaurant and kitchen environment. Alongside their employment the prisoners also train towards gaining nationally recognised City & Guilds NVQs in food preparation and food service before returning to their prison accommodation at the end of the working day. Upon their release, The Clink Charity helps the graduates find employment within the hospitality industry. The restaurant is an example of a unique charitable project that is committed to reducing reoffending rates in partnership with HMPS. The restaurant positively promotes the rehabilitation and reintegration of prisoners and also champions the wealth of quality, fresh and organic produce available locally. Seasonal food is prepared and cooked in an open plan kitchen offering diners the opportunity to watch their food being prepared. Afternoon tea is now being served Monday to Friday, 1:30pm to 3:00pm and must be booked at least 24 hours in advance. As of 1st January 2017 the restaurant will open every Sunday, 12:00pm to 3:00pm, serving roast lunches with 2 courses for £19.95 and 3 courses for £25.90. The restaurant also holds a Gourmet dinner every Wednesday from 6:30pm offering a 4-course menu for £39.95. This must be booked at least 24 hours in advance. Available for exclusive hire, The Clink Restaurant boasts 2 private dining areas with projector and AV facilities that can be used for meetings, presentations and private events.

I saw a review of this restaurant in the local paper and decided to take my husband for his birthday lunch. I’m so glad I did. The restaurant is set in the old chapel just inside the prison and is lovely. The food was top class and cooked to perfection. The staff are prisoners working towards a qualification in hospitality and Julie-Ann, who served us, thoroughly deserves hers. She was friendly and efficient without being ‘in your face’. I will be recommending The Clink to my family and friends

Me and my partner visited The Clink last Friday evening and its was fantastic :) - We we're greeted upon arrival and the atmosphere was great, we we're served by a waitress called Julie-Ann, she explained the menu in great detail and she was really helpful. She was super confident and the service was fast and the food was amazing. Totally worth the money :) Great experience and we will be returning soon with our friends!

We went for Sunday lunch with friends of ours who hadn't experienced eating at The Clink previously, so no pressure!
We were greeted at the door as soon as we entered the restaurant and introduced to our waitress Dawn. After being seated we were handed the menus for our Sunday Lunch. The menu wasn't extensive which is a very big plus in my book I knew it would be freshly cooked. The choice of food was very interesting and accomodated our veggie needs. Dawn gave us a little time to have a look at the menu and then took our drinks order and fully explained the Mocktail which two of our party ordered. We were then offered water for the table which saved us asking for it. The Mocktail went down very well so well another two were ordered.
Dawn answered all our questions regarding the main menu mine was down as Vegetarian Sunday Roast and I needed to know what was replacing the meat option, polenta and red pepper and it was delicious.
The venue is stunning with it being an old chapel and fused with modern touches which takes away any ecclesiastical feelings from its former use.One constructive criticism would be it was a little lite on atmosphere as the restaurant wasn't full and having spoken to friends who have been before seem to think the prices are a little too high...but it is cooked fresh with good quality food!!
We all enjoyed our dining experience at the Clink and look forward to our next visit. Thank you Dawn for looking after us so well.

I arranged a lunch for a group of friends and as we hadn't caught up
for a while we wanted it to be really special. We weren't disappointed! The food was fantastic but what makes The Clink really amazing is the fabulous service. Dawn looked after us so well without being intrusive at all. We could not have asked for more and we will definitely be back soon. Thanks so much for making it such a lovely lunch Dawn.
