If you have a taste for good food and like the environment a homely pub offers, this is the place to go! A particular favourite of mine are the warming pies designed by James Martin, get the chicken and ham and ask for mash! Will be going back soon...

“Great food and surroundings”
Reviewed October 11, 2013

We decided to take a relative out for a meal to the Honey Bee, on their recommendation, as they lived in the area, and we were not disappointed.

When we arrived, the place was fairly busy, but we were shown to a suitable table and given a few moments to consider our drinks order. When the drinks arrived, we were asked if we were ready to order, and were given as much time as was needed.

The menu was fairly comprehensive, and there were also daily specials to choose from. Two of our party chose the salmon, which was one of the fish specials, and the restaurant was happy to accommodate one of the party, who asked for the special to be modified. When it arrived, it had been cooked to perfection, as did the accompanying vegetables. Everyone was more than happy with their meal choice, and the staff were very attentive throughout.

The food was excellent, and was also very reasonably priced. This is a restaurant we would definitely return to when we are back in the area.

Just like to say it was a fabulicious meal. Nathalie and her team were very attentive. Beer and wine selection is good and OMG the Churro Sundae is fantabulous!

“Dinner ok, when it arrived”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

We ate at the Honey bee last night with some friends. It was our third visit, the previous visits being good experiences. We had booked and there were no problems with the reservation, on arrival we had a nice round table near the window, a prime seat. It was drafty though so maybe only a table to sit near on a warm day. Service took ages for both drinks and food orders, it hadn't on previous occasions. There was no apology for this either even when we politely asked if they were busy, they weren't. The food was a bit disappointing too, the fish, unlike other occasions was greasy and the chips were tasteless and somewhat undercooked. You can upgrade incidentally to a better serving of chips, at more expensive cost! Still, I didn't have to cook it and I was tired that night so paying for someone else to was what I needed. That said, it's not cheap at the Honey bee so we were a bit fed up. We weren't asked which wine we would like, I had presumed they only had one white wine but noticed on way out that they had a few types. I hope for their sake the Honey bee had just had a bad night last night but I don't think we will be going again. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area that are consistently good.

“Nice meal out”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

We dined here as a family whilst staying in the nearby Holiday Inn.

We arrived and were seated swiftly and a drinks order taken by an overfriendly employee.

Our food order was taken and it arrived a short while later.

My wife and my food arrived, followed by the children's meal 5 minutes later, so we had to try to entertain them until their meal arrived.

The food itself was lovely my wife's steak was cooked to perfection and was lovely by all accounts.

My wild boar and chorizo burger was delicious and was accompanied with chips and 'slaw.

The barman/server was in our opinion overfriendly and imposing.

The bill arrived with our 20% discount which we got by signing up to their newsletter via their website!

Overall it was a lovely meal which was slightly let down by the service!
