“Real ale & great Thai food”
Reviewed January 14, 2014

A few of us called in for a drink during our annual Christmas day out & we started feeling hungry from the wonderful aromas coming from the adjoining Phanthong Thai restaurant, but unfortunately we hadn't booked a table... no problem tho, as we could eat in the pub & better than that there was a 20% discount, or a selection including a starter, main meal & side dish for just over £10, if you're dining in the bar... best ending to a Christmas party in years. Quality food & beer in a proper pub. :-)

We stayed at the Kings Arms Hotel for three nights whilst we visited some of the local National Trust locations.
The accommodation was spotless, cosy and great value for money. Plenty of hot water, with a modern TV, kettle, etc in our room.
Each morning James cooked us a hearty 'English' breakfast, just as we wanted it, with as much tea and coffee as we needed. James is also a mine of infromation about the local area and attractions.
We will visit The Kings Arms Hotel again on our next trip to Cheshire!

Notes:
Generous number of car parking spaces at the rear of the hotel.
Good selection of beers, etc, with plenty of cosy corners in the bars area.

Room Tip: The Kings Arms are on the roundabout and may be hidden behind the trees in front of the main sign.

As the B &B I usually use was full I had to put up with staying at the Kings Arms. The room overlooked a noisy roundabout and was next to main road into town. Even with the windows shut the road noise disturbed by sleep (double glazing would have helped). The room was tatty and the bed uncomfortable. On the night I was staying there was no food available so had to make a trip into town. Next time if the B & B is not available I think I'd rather sleep in a tent!

Room Tip: If you're offered the room on the 1st floor overlooking the roundabout ask to be moved

Just on the outskirts of Wilmslow , this country pub is excellent for those with a car touring. Approx. 3/4 of a mile from Wilmslow rail station. What better than a good pint of beer, a neat and comfortable room to sleep in and a good breakfast at a very reasonable price. Good value.

Room Tip: Located by a busy road but with all windows open due to the heat, we had a very comfortable nights s...

..because there's one in the bar you can borrow.

Nice little accommodation above the pub with fresh rooms and usual facilities. Didn't try the breakfast nor eat at the Chili Banana which is tagged on to the back of the place, but it sounded good and the restaurant was busy (good sign) as I passed. The bright room faced the busy roundabout outside, but despite this the traffic noise was reasonable. Good night's sleep was had.

Staff are very welcoming and eager to please.

Room Tip: If you like a room with a window on each corner see if room 4 is available.

Stayed here for one night after attending our grandson's Christening. Very friendly and welcoming staff throughout our stay. Our twin room was small and basic, but spotlessly clean with very comfortable beds. We stayed in Room 5 overlooking Alderley Road, but were not bothered by traffic noise at all. Neither were we disturbed by noise from the pub, which, by the way, is of the old-school, warm and cosy variety, frequented by locals of all ages. Just like the good old days, before chains of bars serving cheap lagers and shots sprang up all over the place! Breakfast (£5 - great value) was nicely cooked and served by the tenant, James. He was very attentive and friendly, telling us about the pub's history. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this hotel for a short stay!

You might worry that rooms above a pub imght be noisy, but I have stayed twice and not found this an issue. The pub anyway a convivial local. You enter via the pub or the B&Bs own entrance. The rooms are small, clean, functional, and cheaper than the Wilmslow Premier Inn.
I didn't have the breakfast (£5), but was offered a cup of tea even though leaving early at 7.30am. There's a Costa Coffee and Starbucks half a mile down the road in Wilmslow.
For shoppers...the Marks and Spencers on the retail park just outside Wilmslow is the largest in the UK.
