I have stayed in cheap hotels before, and managed it, but not enjoyed it much. This place blew me away, as I wasn't expecting much more than I have experienced before in cheap hotels. Don't get me wrong, it's nothing like your 3 star hotels, but for budgeting, I highly recommend it. We paid 25£ p/p per night, and it included breakfast! The hotel was apparently just 4months old when we stayed in it, so the bar was not finished but drinks were available. There is free wifi in the public areas (near reception). There is a big garden area with a deck and tables&chairs just outside the hallway next to reception, and you can smoke there. There is also free off street parking available for guests.
We stayed in room 19 (or 29?), which is next to the reception, so we had full wifi in our room, which was a big plus. Downside to that room is that the walls aren't thick and you can hear the reception often (phone, door, etc). Our room was tidy and compact, but for a cheap hotel it was good - new ensuite, TV, coffee/tea point, a large dresser. The window of the room was to the hallway and had to be open all the time, as it got a bit hot in there otherwise. Opening the door for 30mins helped a lot though.
Breakfast was a choice of cereals, toast, jams/honey, and cooked breakfast (sausages, bacon, eggs, peeled tomato, tin mushroom, beans in tomato sauce). The bacon was real good, proper meaty bacon. And even though some of the stuff was from tins, they weren't the cheapest ones - they actually tasted good! Drinks were orange and apple juice, milk, coffee, tea. And the best part is, it was a BUFFET! We were very pleased with it and had big platefuls every morning.
We stayed in the hotel for a week. The staff was very friendly and when checking out we had a chat with the guy in reception, who was amazed how much we liked the room we stayed in, as it was one of the older style ones. He told us the upstairs rooms were newer and a lot nicer. But the wifi did it for us, as we weren't on a holiday but living there while moving house. So keep that in mind when booking, you might want to ask for a room that is not on ground level.
All in all it was a very good experience and would recommend it for travellers who wish to budget. The train journey to central London only takes about 20minutes and there are food shops as well as other shops just around the corner, 5-10min walk to all. And train station is just a 3-5min walk too.
